    if only ...

can't see that being a going rate in London, is your 'nought' key not working properly
£10 be realistic are you having a laugh,no plumber is going to leave home for that,DIYer but find one that you can trust ,well thats another story ,so I feel that you are mis-leading the poster and giving unrealistic expectations. Also tackling plumbing that is beyond your experience can be expensive and stressful ,without an end result.

I had no idea we were talking about London!

£10 would get the job done by a handyman in Cornwall. I work across all the trades and charge £17 per hour. I know I'm cheap but I would do that job for someone who lives in the same village as me for around the £10 plus materials mark.

London - you are possibly looking at a lot more.

As far as flooding the kitchen is concerned - we are talking about waste plumbing here, not incoming water. Although the flooding risk is there, it is not as acute as it is when dealing with water supplies.

wxmlad - Without knowing your configuration I couldn't answer your query completely. However the Y piece you have found would help with the incoming water.

Found this. It applies equally to washing machines and dishwashers

I need to solve this problem too. Moved house and need to connect dishwasher, washer has plumbing already. There isnt a deal of room under our sink to go about replacing the waste. But I am sure at our last house the plumber fitted a Y piece to the existing washer waste. Has anyone seen a Y fitting for waste? Ive looked on screwfix but can only find the Y fitting for water in, as in the above link (first one).
