Whilist it's true that full Employment Tribunal rights only occur after 12 months, a lot are from day one, including statutory rights not to discriminate on several grounds.

Yes, there are many protected characteristics from day 1 - but the problem is, and always will be, in proving it. Most organisations aren't stupid enough to write you a letter telling you that you're no longer wanted because you're female.
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

I know I saw and heard evidence that said I was not given a promotion and was in fact being paid slightly less than male counterparts " because after all it is a good salary for a woman " !!!! this was a massive Motor company.

Needless to say i did what anyone would do got a better job with competitors and made sure that we out shined in every way. They actually offered my a job about ten years later and I had the satisfaction of laughing at them.

At the time i did go to see a solicitor about my options after all i had proof. The way it was explained to me at the time is that employment law is not eligible for any kind of legal aid. The size of this company meant that they could delay proceedings and simply take me to a point where I could not fund the action. Yes I would of got lots but I had to risk everything and as i had already been offered another position I decided not to take it any further.

Like it or not discrimination is alive and well and living in our work force at all levels.
Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A
