30 people sacked today at work

Can a firm sack you without giving you three warmings? Say this happened to me and I got sacked without a warming, will I ever get a job again?

Depends what they got sacked for. And what you got sacked for.

Any employee can be sacked without warning if their offence is serious enough. The fact that there are 30 of you makes no difference whatsoever.

Less than a year - based on posting history

Can we have a few more details? What were they/you sacked for?

Even if you've been sacked of course you will get a job again, but it might be a bit more difficult than normal.

I remember a new Ops Director joined the company I worked at and overnight a dozen or so people left. He compromised them as he didn't like their attitude and wanted them gone immediately. Not nice but not illegal.

You can certainly be made redundant without warning as I discovered two weeks ago.

Without a period of meaningful consultation and notice (either worked or paid in lieu) is illegal. :-(

This happened to my next door neighbour. Went into work and bang! redundancy, out of the blue and told there is no money in the pot for redundancy payments! She says she now has to apply to government for redundancy pay.

Not sure who she worked for but I believe it was with one of the training agencies similar to Learn Direct.

I am being paid in lieu. Still, not the same as the security of a job, and jobs are pretty much few and far between right now.
