I made a phone call today to the local council ( where the person parked ) regarding this matter....
( funny that the person I first phoned gave me the citizens advice bureau's number for all concerns regarding Parking eye )
I phoned the citizens advice bureau afterwards who informed me that you must appeal to Parking eye , also not to ignore them.
They said get the person involved to appeal to parking eye, if they reject it then go through the BPA's appeal process, then take it from there.
They told me that you must read everything on their displays before entering a car park of this nature, all signs must be clearly displayed and agree to those terms.
I aksed him that they could only apply these charges to the driver of the car, reply = yes, I asked him if they could not identify the driver of the car then they could not do anything except send a " charge " to the registered keeper, he said yes. ( as stated somewhere else on this forum - he said " they get the information from the DVLA )

I think the person on the phone could only give me general advice and not give me his own personal advice as the calls apparently get monitored.

He said ( as posted somewhere else on this forum ) , the company can only charge you an appropriate amount for the amount of losses suffered by the land owner / business.
I asked him if he personally thought overstaying in a car park for 20minutes on private land amounted to £120 in so called " charges " in a car park that charges £1 per hour to park at, he said he could not answer that question.

So basically they can't do anything if they can't find out who the driver was , they can't charge you an extortionate amount of money for overstaying by a small amount, if ever they did go as far as court ( highly unlikely due to recent events - again posted here somewhere ), you can offer the landowner and not the company involved an amount which covers their losses for you overstaying , which for 20minutes in a £1 per hour car park = CERTAINLY NOT £120.

Correct with your last paragraph but why did you waste your time with CAB ? It's well known that they don't understand the issue and as you have found give out incorrect information.

Appeal indeed :rotfl:Why would the scammers PE agree to an appeal ? Why would the BPA ( who's members ARE the PPCs such as PE ) uphold an appeal ?

    Just ignore them !
All aboard the Gus Bus !
  • oh and by the way, I won't be getting the person to appeal ( they just want to know who the driver was )

    Advice still = Ignore
  • Yeah I know mate , obviously they don't understand , I got that from the second he said " make an appeal " lol

I can't understand why MSE regulars would not come to the Parking forum then simply use the 'search this forum' option & just type in the company name and select the option 'find posts'? I'm just genuinely surprised at the 2 posts which mentioned deciding to do a Google search over a parking issue, rather than a much more specific and reliable MSE parking sub-board search...
To be fair, an MSE member may spend all their time in other, unrelated forums, and not even be aware this one is here. Until they do a <insert name of favourite search engine here> search, and find this forum.

At that point, I would expect them to trawl this forum and use the search facilities they should be familiar with, in order to home in on their target (a thread relating to their specific issue).:T

The CAB went to the BPA for advice on how they should advise people. How can I put this kindly? It was like going to the "British Burglars' Association" for advice on home security.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

You are the second very regular MSEer posting today who only saw a random thread here with a Google search?! Odd to turn to Google, when the info is here on MSE in multiple threads?

IMHO Google is far too massive a pool to fish in for info about a specific parking company. Lucky you found this thread after all, but it's actually one of thousands on this sub board, all about this scam:

Please do read the second-to-top thread so you can be ready to play snap with each letter.

    :)
    LOL
I googled the company name as I was going to pay the fine online, then stumbled across the MSE threads.
I wasnt specifically looking for info on the company.

I realise that...I was most surprised you thought it was a fine and were going to actually pay it?! Did you really not smell a rat at all and thought a private company could fine you?

At least you know better now. Spread the word.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
