Best doing it via recorded delivery letter so you have proof it has got there. If you fax it, they could say they never received it & you would have to pay your line rental til sorted !
  • Is it possible to call up o2 cpw more than 30 days before the contract ends and ask for a DRN so that the disconnection letter reaches in time for the 30 day notice period?
  • Nope they say that they can only get a DRN(disconnection reference number) if contract 34days or less from end
    THEN
you have to write to the gits and Track and trace never works- always send recorded to 1 Portal Way as well as the PO box they give as that will track
If you do overpay they do not repay the excess easily- they owe me about 7 pound and 6 phonecalls later I still haven't had it back!!
You know what... you can't beat a good bargain!!!
  • So basically, there's over a 90% chance that I will get charged another month's line rental and no pro-rata?

I'm a bit puzzled here. I've got a Virgin phone from CPW. When I want to cancel I'd assumed I would need to contact Virgin rather than CPW, is that correct?

  • Yes, that is correct. No need to contact cpw. My contract however is with o2 cpw, hence the need to contact them for the termination which I think is just lame. All my previous contracts had no need for letters.

Even if your o2 contract was run direct with o2 (with no cpw involvement) you would have to send in a letter (this time to 02) to give notice of termination.

Ah OK thanks, I hadn't realised there was an 'O2 CPW' which is different from 'O2'.
