My vendors want me to pay £100 per room for carpets and to buy the blinds. They are taking the curtain poles, light fittings and even the tv aerial!! I've already said I will leave all of these items in my own house.
I've declined their kind offer I have to say.

Don't blame you. What makes them think you want all their manky old rubbish anyway?0 -
I would ask for £1000 off the price to pay for carpets and the fittings, did they tell you these would be removed during the sale?
I don't think they can remove these items without some sort of price reduction, stand your ground and prepare to find another property0 -
Bizarre, how many bedrooms is it?! Go back with a revised offer for -£100 per room to factor in the cost of new carpets/lights!!!0

It depends what was in the fixture and fittings form.... if they already say they are taking it and you've signed the form there isnt much you can do.[STRIKE]£2200[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£1950[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1850[/STRIKE] £1600 on my credit card
£1200 of £6000 Savings0 -
That's shocking! What are they going to do with the carpet if they take it with them?? It's just odd!
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that if they take the light fittings from the centre of the ceiling, they are required to leave behind a cable with bulb holder ceiling light doodah so you can attach a shade. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
I bet they end up leaving the carpets and tv aerial anyway. I mean why climb up on the roof to get an old rusty piece of metal down just to spite someone? And what would they do with the carpet? It's unlikely they would want it in their new home even if it did fit!
Personally I think it's best to include carpets, curtains, light fittings etc in the sale and not quibble over them.0 -
Our vendors said they would be taking their wall lights in the living room which was OK by us but when we moved in there were just four bare wires and no ceiling light so I had to rush out the next day and buy some or we'd have been in the dark.
The halogen spots they had in the office also went but they did replace them with a ceiling rose and bayonet fitting for a light bulb.
I reckon call their bluff on the carpets because come moving out day they probably won't want the hassle of ripping up carpets from every room and finding somewhere to dump them."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Oh and I would say (if you tell them you don't want their carpets) that if they do remove them you want them removed from the premises and not left on your drive."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Cheeky!! I wouldn't dream of taking or charging for carpets! We're leaving all new carpets, vertical blinds and curtain poles. Our vendor is taking all their blinds, curtain poles and light fitments! They've even wrote on the form that they are taking the shower curtain which if I remember was just a very cheap plastic one! I think you'll find they leave the items anyway0

I can understand them not leaving the shower curtain, they're probably just going to bin it tbh, they aren't the easiest of things to keep clean and I'd want a new one anyway! I'm not leaving ours, it's grubby! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0
