    Hi sapphire110,

We got them yesterday after a bit of a debacle. In short as we have only had them for one day we cannot really comment from a longer term perspective, but we are very happy with them, and they are so much more comfortable than they look on the Internet. They are as luxurious as they look (we went with the lilac fabric), as it is quite a subtle lilac. We were worried about going with the silver as it was almost white, and we have a little dog whom we take for walks in the fields behind us - guess where he has traditionally landed when we get him home!

To be fair DFS has been quite good compared to the various horror stories I had read and I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to stick up for them but they have dealt with us very amenable so far.

We opted to go with the concerto sofas, the 4 and 2 seaters. Because we were not sure if We would get the 4 into the house, we used their homebuyer survey, where they send their delivery guys round to check if it will fit. They did this and said it would be tight but should be possible with the arms removed from the sofa. We went with this advice.

We were told to expect delivery in about 4 weeks, and got a call saying it would be in their shop locally after 3 weeks. This fell through for some reason, and it got delayed by another 4 weeks. After this they said they could give us a courtesy sofa, which we accepted as we had no sofa at all (we've been using deckchairs for 10 weeks, and the novelty wore off pretty quickly!).

Cut to week 12 and they have them in stock send the delivery guys around, and they could not get the 4 seater in. I made suggestions as to how they would get it in, but they were convinced that it would not work and sort of refused to do it for fear of damaging the sofa, or our walls too much ( we'd already said we really don't care about the walls as they need work doing anyway). They left with the sofas, but we were able to keep the courtesy sofa.

Week 13 yesterday, the delivery guys who did the survey turned up with it, and had to try again. They thought this was pointless, but with the suggestion from me to remove the little protective rubber feet, and some different wiggling of the sofa they got it in.

One issue we have with the 4 seater is that both of the arms require a little re-upholstering as upon delivery some of the fabric was loose where the pins have come away. They have booked someone to come in this week and check it/what needs to be done. There cannot be any arguing with needing to do something as this was how they were delivered so I don't foresee any problems (touch wood).
  • Hi pdje4

Thanks for your reply. We have a little dog too so that was another of my concerns. I'm hoping to go with the blue depending on how light it is.

We are hoping to move house before Christmas providing all goes well and possibly leave our old sofa behind but after reading your message im concerned as I don't want to move and be sofaless for weeks on end. Any thoughts ?

We have to travel over an hour to a show room and going next week :) Hope they have one in store :)

The lilac does look lilacy during daylight but in the evening when it's darker they look greyer.

We've had to become disciplined with the dog and towel dry him before he sets foot in the lounge. Also worth noting we didn't get the scotch guarding done with dfs as it costs a fortune. My father in law is in fire and flood restoratoration and does some scotch guarding and said the products you can get from the interweb can be just as good if applied as per the instructions - just make sure you do a test patch first and then also make sure any pets are no way near.

Re getting them in time, I think they have their "get it before Xmas" deal on now, so in theory you should be ok, but if not like I said they did give us a courtesy sofa. For an interim you could buy something really cheap and second hand from gumtree then sell it on again, or post a wanted on free cycle to see if anyone has anything. On gumtree I seem to remember you could pick up some sofas for less than £50, they weren't pretty, but would suffice with a cover for a few weeks. Alternatively, cheap deckchairs like we did!

I'm sure they'll have one, but it might be worth calling them to check first to make sure you don't have a wasted trip.
  • Hello again

I went and viewed the sofa and my husband and I love it but im hearing more and more bad reviews regarding DFS the one that is concerning me most is that i've heard they make the show room sofas of better quality and comfort so I wandered after living with the sofa is it as comfortable as you remembered in store?

    Many Thanks

    Hi Sapphire,

We are really happy with ours. They are really comfy, and all of our friends think they are too (to most of their surprise, like ours in the first instance). We had a slight issue with some of the upholstered stapling on an arm which they came out and fixed immediately (in fact it was our diary that delayed, they asked if they could come the next working day). Honestly I was in the SMS position a you at the beginning, and I was beginning to doubt going with DFS, which was exactly the purpose of this thread, and as people have correctly pointed out you only hear the bad stuff. I'm not saying they were perfect as you can see above we had acouple of issues, but I and they have been amenable and worked together to get it all sorted.

One tip if you do choose the concerto sofa. Measure your rooms and doorways/any angles through narrow spaces. We live in a traditional 1930s 3bed semi, and the hall way is wide enough to fit the sofa through and o fit it in height but the angles nearly meant it wouldn't fit! The arms do come off these sofas and that was the only way (along with removing the rubber temporary feet) we could get it through a narrow angled turn from our hall to the lounge (4 seater sofa). Two of us can snuggle on it very comfortably, but equally have our own space or even enough for us, the dog and the cat! Remember to use their 'homebuyers survey' or whatever they call it, as the onus is then on them if they not fit for any reason, and you are not responsible or liable for them at all.
  • Thank you so much for your time and info it has been really helpful and ive made my decision were gonna go for it :) Enjoy your sofa :j

No problem. I hope you enjoy yours too. I actually fell asleep on our 4 seater one last night for the first time and it's even quite comfortable for that!
