How would/did you celebrate your silver wedding anniversary?

Hi all, hoping for some inspiration here...
We are celebrating our 25th next May and would like to mark the occasion.
We started off thinking of a holiday but are now not sure as we will have a holiday later in the year anyway (finances allowing, lol). Going out for dinner seems a bit lame (not trying to offend anyone who did that) for quite a milestone.
Was wondering what sort of things other people have done or are planning to do? Thanks for any tips.:)

My parents' silver anniversary was the same day as my grandparents' golden anniversary and they had a joint party for family and friends which was lovely.
I got married on the same day 5 years later, hoping to join in the parties but we didn't make it to the first anniversary so no joint party for me lol.0 -
Congratulations on your up and coming anniversary.
My inlaws had a meal with close family for their 40th, but had a big party for their 25th.
Personally I would go on a weekend break. Somewhere like Edinburgh or York.
For our 10th we went to the yorkshire dales and stayed overnight. Went to a lovely restaurant, but had to persuade hubby he would sincerely regret spending £270 on a bottle of wine the morning after he'd had a few!MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0 -
I think for my parents' Silver Wedding they had a night out - dinner, drinks and a show, followed by a stop in a nice hotel. For their 30th I think was a weekend away.0

We went away for the weekend to Stamford.
We also had a family dinner in a nice restaurant a few weeks later."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Depends how much you want to spend. I like the idea of combining a weekend away with something like a balloon or helicopter ride, though I'm not sure I'd be brave enough!:D0

We went for a nice meal with my parents, siblings, their partners and children.
I am very close to my family whereas OH does not see his.
We didn't want a party as we don't really like things like that but a meal with my family was something we both wanted. We paid for all the food and everyone paid for their own drinkThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Ours was earlier this year and on the day itself we had a meal out. Financially things are hard just now but friends gave us a voucher for a night at a lovely hotel in Perth which we thoroughly recommend.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

My parents had a party in a nice local hotel for their 25th. We don't normally do parties, but for other celebrations tend to have nice family meals out.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

My parents had a small party, with family and friends, during the day out in the garden. I remember there being cake, and other kids for me to play with. As far as I'm concerned with was a great day! :rotfl:February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
We went on holiday to the Maldives for a week. We also had a party for our friends and family on our return.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards.
