I wouldn't really call it 'cheeky' - the seller has to be the one to make the request, and as you didn't respond to his message maybe he thought he'd get the ball rolling sooner rather than later in case you weren't online - that way you would see his message and get the cancellation request on the same day and it would all be done and dusted.

I ordered stuff on Thursday and paid for them.

Fast forward to Sunday night ( after I'd sat all day in the house thinking they might have turned up because they were on a 48 hour delivery service on the Friday) and the seller emails me to tell me he'd forgotten the stuff was on Ebay, there had been a death in the family (heard that loads of times) and would I accept an extra five of half of the size I'd ordered.

I was irritated, so said no. I asked for a refund asap which he has done.

Now I get an email asking me to cancel the order so that he can get his ebay fees back!

How do I go about doing that, and should I even do it?

    I know its off topic
however if you order on a Friday on a 48 hour service
I wouldnt be looking to get a delivery until Tuesday at the earliest, for future reference

Just for his cheek in opening the thing to get his fees back I am going to decline him.

Just for his cheek??? What do you expect him to do , he's offered you five extra trees, paid the refund back asap as you asked I hardly call it cheeky. Hope I never have to come across you as a buyer , lets hope he gives you a non paying strike or forces the sale to go thru rather slowly if you decline :)

Totally agree, its pathetic not letting him have his fees back, he's done all he can to help by the sounds of it.
  • Are you willing to supply us your buyer account details?

Myself and others it seems would block you.

Seller could not open an INR claim as the mutual has been opened and a seller can only opt for one or the other.

Also OP states in the opening post that he has paid, so if seller had opened an NPb buyer would have been able to show that payment had been refunded and seller may well have been given a warning for Mis use of the system.

I suggested OP accept because it doesn't sound like the seller was just refunding and leaving them to sort it out - they did offer the extras and it's not really their fault that those were unsuitable for the OP's purposes. Not every seller knows exactly what the buyer is buying the item for.

There is no call, however, for people to be rude to the OP. They are the ones inconvenienced by this more than the seller. OK, I was inclined to let the seller off because there may have been other things on their mind, but in general sellers should really have the presence of mind to know what they have listed or suffer the consequences when they mess up.

The buyer paid, there is no non-payment issue here. I think the people who are suggesting BBLs here are being stupid and exposing themselves as the numpties.
