Offered Wescot 45% Settlement. What does letter mean?

I sent Wescot a F&F Settlement letter offering £130 (£285 owed). They have sent the following letter, but I'm unsure what it means, as at the top it says they will take £142.50, but the ticked boxed underneath say otherwise..?

Can anyone help translate this letter?

Ask for a letter stating the offer they are willing to accept. That thing looks like a get out clause so they can chase you for the rest. When I settled I got a typed letter stating the date payment must reach them by, the amount and that it was a full and final settlement.

  • I might be wrong, but isnt it saying that it doesnt accept your offer (of £130) but should you offer £142.50 instead, then they will accept this as full and final settlement?!

    Possibly...

Maybe I should send them another F&F letter with £142.50 and see what happens.

    What do you think?

I wouldn't trust these clowns as far as I could throw them!

I personally wouldn't be happy with this letter as for me it is open to interpretation!

I think you should ask them for a letter actually stating that they will accept £XXX.XX as a FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT for the amount oweing.

The box they have ticked about it not being accepted as full and final settlement. Does that relate to your offer or theirs?

    Just my opinion. :)

    Thanks southernscouser.

I have sent a F&F letter to them again changing the amount to £142.50.
If I get another letter like the one above, I will then ask them to clarify that its Full & Final...

    Hi fuzzgun,

The reply clearly states that they do not accept your offer in FULL and FINAL settlement - they are asking you to make a payment BEFORE they will even consider a F&F.
Have a look on the National Debtline website - they have some good template letters, one of which deals with a 'rejected F&F offer.
Don't pay anything until you have their acceptance of a FULL and FINAL settlement.
