Quick question about Easyjet and kids

Hello, just a quickie!

We're flying with Easyjet out of Gatwick this week and are taking the 3 monsters. Is it worth getting speedy boarding or will we get priority boarding anyway because of the kids, (youngest is 6).

Obviously we need to sit together, (maybe not by the end of the flight ;)), so if I need to buy speedy to ensure it then so be it.

I think its under 5's that get free speedy boarding, but I could be wrong as mine are older. Personally yes I would get it, or get in line to get on the flight first.

You will board after speedy boarders but before everyone else. From easyJet's website:

easyJet operates a strict priority boarding system and you will be boarded in the following order:
Group 1: Passengers who have purchased Speedy Boarding
Group SA: Passengers requiring special assistance and families (maximum 2 adults) where at least one child is aged 5 years or under.
    Group 2: All other passengers

Edit: Sorry, read your original post as saying the *oldest* child was 6. So as balletshoes says, no priority boarding for you (unless you pay for it).

your youngest child is 6, so technically you don't qualify for the being boarded with young children. However, you might not get asked the age of your youngest child, the staff at the boarding desk may just ask for "families travelling with young children".

If it would set your mind at rest, book speedy boarding.

As balletshoes said. Usually when I fly with EasyJet they just herd any families with young children to the priority boarding area (after speedy boarding) without asking how old the children are. However, if you want to be sure of getting on before the masses you would have to get speedy boarding as you don't actually have any right to free priority boarding.

The best they are obliged to do for you is one adult with 2 children and the other with one child, if this isn't ok, best to book speedy boarding.

They're not obliged to offer this if all the children are over the age of 5.

Never had any problem getting seats together for 4 of us on numerous EasyJet flights and never bothered with Speedy boarding. Stay in the vicinity of the desk, keep your ears and eyes open and be prepared to move quickly when called.

An alternative (which I am pretty sure EJ have cottoned onto so do not allow anymore!) - book speedy boarding for just one adult and the 6 year old. Although you are not allowed to "save" seats, get the 6-year-old to throw a major tantrum once on the plane and I can guarantee no-one will sit anywhere near you. I have seen this happen and often wonder if it is deliberate.

It is a CAA recommendation that children are sat with one adult.

I see, I thought you were talking about what easyJet was obliged to offer as far as priority boarding goes.

These systems can break down where there is a bus to take you to the plane. Priority boarding people get on first, the rest of the passengers pile on and charge off in the usual scrum so you are no better off.
