I'm depressed to see so many quick completions now

We're buying a completely chain free property. We proposed to complete in week 15 and we're now at the point where it's an impossibility. I have no idea when we'll exchange/complete but unfortuantely for us it doesn't look as though it will be any time soon.
We're in week 15 too and while the buyers and sellers in chain of 3 are pretty sure we're completing this week, middle conveyancer seems determined to throw a spanner in the work0 -
Offer accepted around 14 May, still waiting for exchange.... Solicitors have had our money for a month and we've been told four times that exchange is imminent, we're now likely to be looking at October completion because the top of the chain has messed about so longYou were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0

yeah if we do actually exchange tomorrow, I may need picking up off the floor! But vendor assured me this has been sorted at their end and we're still completing next thursday. Although we're now considering paying rent into October anyway so we don't have to sleep with paint fumes etc and might manage to get the bathroom done.0
