Hastings Direct excessive fee...

You sure you don't want to just argue?
This is from the Allianz website regarding cancellation fees:you can cancel the policy by returning the Certificate of Motor Insurance to us. You will receive a proportionate refund of premium for the period of cover you have not used. If you choose to cancel in the first year the refund will be reduced by £50 to allow for costs in providing the policy. If you cancel after the first year the refund will be reduced by £25.
I'll argue if you like but I'm basically agreeing with you (I think!!).
The way I see it.....
Buy from broker and these T&C apply http://www.allianzretail.co.uk/conte...icy-Jun-12.pdf which have the cancellation fees I mentioned in my post # 12
Buy via their direct channel www.yourcoverinsurance.co.uk. and these T&C apply http://www.yourcoverinsurance.co.uk/...nce_policy.pdf which doesn't have cancellation or admin fees as mentioned in my post # 18.
As always, shop around and read the paperwork (and sunscreen is a good idea too)0 -

I am not arguing about paying an admin fee, I am complaining about the amount. I feel £10 is more than adequate for the simplicity of my request.
A lot of people wouldn’t bothered changing addresses but I have done the right thing and whichever way I have penalized. I am just tired of companies ripping people off with fees!
I have written an email of complaint and sent to your customer relations, perhaps you could comment on my points?
"I called your office on Sunday 12th August at 1106hrs where I spent 14 minutes in a call queue to request an address change to my policy.
Firstly, having spoken to your representative; she informed me that there would be an additional charge of £17.41 for a vehicle parked on a drive at my new address. I found this rather interesting because at 1628hrs today; I requested a quote for my previous postcode which came in at £388.98 and seconds later I amended the address to reflect my current postcode which came in at £363.71 for exactly the same level of cover that I am currently getting for both vehicles being parked on the street so, I am therefore questioning the additional charge of £17.41.
Secondly, I had to pay a very excessive fee of £35 to change my address. I would understand a small fee of £10 if a certificate was printed off and posted however; £35 for an emailed copy is disgraceful.
Thirdly, the call length was 24 minutes and 36 second at a charge 21p per minute. I am now left with a bitter after taste of a £5.25 bill for being honest and doing the right thing.”
Many thanks.

So if you come on MSE and embarrass Hastings they'll waive or reduce the fee. If you don't come on MSE you're stuck paying the fee.0
