Travelling in London

  • I don't have an email unfortunately as I have a complimentary ticket from my OH which I am collecting from him at Stratford? I have not seen him for over a month so am excited:D. He will be shattered though as he has been doing 16hr shifts without a day off for the past month! This is why I am purchasing my travelcard with my tickets on Redspottyhanky. I think I will just get Zone 1-6 to make sure.

Hope that makes more sense xxx
  • Ok. But if you are going back the next day then you cannot buy a ticket with a 1-6 TC on it. you will have to purchase it separatly.

    Stratford is zone 3

Do you have an Oyster card
  • Yes I understand I will have to purchase another travelcard for the following day, thanks.

DaCouch, no I do not have an oyster card, is this a problem?

    Thanks xx

Oyster is a prepay card you just touch on the barriers as you go through, the daily price is capped at the travel card price. You don't need to plan ahead what ticket to buy, just make sure you have enough money on it.

They are not essential, but handy if you visit London a lot.

No the ticket to Euston with the TC on it will ONLY be valid for that day - not to return the next day. Do not buy an off peak day return - you want the other one with a months validity.

  • The train ticket to Euston I am purchasing is an Open return within one month. The travelcard for travelling within London just says off peak 1-2 1-3 1-6. I know I am coming across blonde!! This just really confuses me. I understand I will need to pay for my travel back to Euston on Monday morning:).

    Thanks once again. xxx
  • If you are just going to Stratford then purchase an Oyster when you get to london(not a visitor one) and put a fiver on it credit and that will do you and then return the oyster at euston for your deposit back and your pound change!!

No need for a travelcard at all unless you plan on traipsing round london which im guessing its back to hubbys hotel for some niceness ;)

What time are you planning to go home on the monday? Make sur eif you are going after 10am you purchase the OFF PEAK ticket not the Anytime ticket. Only purchase the Anytime ticket if you are going back early morning.

If you are going to Stratford International on the Javelin from St Pancras a zone 1-6 travelcard won't cover it, nor will Oyster. If you aren't doing any other traveling withing London just buy a ticket for the Javelin at St Pancras.

Don't get the tube from Euston to St Pancras, just walk it, it's less than 10 minutes.
  • I would just like to say thankyou for all your help very late on Saturday evening.

We managed to get to the closing ceremony without getting lost:D.

My niece absolutely loved the show and it was fab to see my OH after a month of him working nights at the venue, he did look rather tired though:rotfl:.

Thanks once again for your advice.
