No, Thank you.
LOL. I quite agree with this, but the reality is we Brits are such polite people we so often feel the need to justify why. As in: "No thanks, I already have my dog kennel insured with Fidoline". But that in turn prompts the start of a dialogue about how much you pay Fidoline, and whether your policy also includes your buried bones being dug up and taken by another dog, like their's does.
That politeness is so often exploited by a demand to know "Oh, why not?" when you politly say "No. Thank you". And we Brits are then programmed to comply with that request and justify the original response with an explanaition, rather than firmly say "I don't see any need to provide you with a justification for my decision."
And it's to avoid all that "unpleasentness" that we choose to avoid the situation ever arising by avoiding using the counter.Optimists see a glass half full
Pessimists see a glass half empty

TBH I am surprised people still queue up for ATMs as everything's basically C&P these days.
The only time I touch an ATM is if I am ordering an Indian and the driver only takes cash.0 -

Yet to see a card machine on a bus yet (although I'm sure it'll come)
Not all pubs take cards
Cornershops often want to add a card charge of 50p
some people like to budget their personal spends in cash
markets and farmers markets don't usually have card machines
(Yet weirdly one of the things I never pay cash for is a delivery meal -I pay by card and get cashback from Quidco or Topcashback when I fancy a curry
) I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Not everywhere is chip and pin though, our works canteen only accepts cash. The barbers I use I've always paid cash (Don't even think I've seen a C&P inside here either). Nights out I prefer to pay cash. The curry afterwards I prefer to pay cash. The taxi driver is paid in cash. Trades people like to be paid cash too and they give discounts for it, no questions asked and all.0

A lot of stuff I buy less than £5 I either get told they don't accept cards, or there is something like a 50p charge for a debit card and higher for a credit card.BugsyBrowne wrote: »TBH I am surprised people still queue up for ATMs as everything's basically C&P these days.
But I hate having to carry cash around with me, notes in particular. You hand a £20 note over as you don't have anything less, then they frown because they are giving all their change away, then you have to stand there for 5 minutes with everyone else in the queue getting grumpy whilst you file away the notes and receipt and fill your pockets with the change, then drop one of the coins on the floor as your trying to seperate everything and spend another 5 minutes looking for it. Much easier with a contactless card, but they either don't accept them either at all, or only for payments over £5.0 -

I've only seen one bank with an inside ATM - and that branch closed down. If I saw one i'd prefer to use that as i'm always wary withdrawing money outside. I don't like to go into my local branch to get money over the counter as they always try to get me to come in for a review!0

You'd be surprised at the amount of people who don't realise that they can use any banks ATM.
I have to replenish our ATM and do basic checks every day, there are 2 Halifax and a Nationwide ATM right next door and people just stand there scowling whilst I'm doing the checks.0 -

Always make me laugh when they ask if i want a review. Not sure why i would want a review from a bank that got into millions of pounds of debt, when ive never been in debt by a penny. Dont see what they could help me with really0
