Cheaper to Fly to USA July or August and best carrier
Comments
-
As mentioned before flights go down at the end of August as the US kids go back to school then (first day back around my way in this coming Monday). My folks are coming over on 22nd August. Paid about £500 per person. A week earlier and it was £850 per person. They are flying MAN - ORD - CVG with American.0

You are unlikely to get that option on many carriers as they offer the seats to status holding passengers first, then non status passengers the week before travel. You may be lucky though.
Premium Economy might be the way forward - BA, VA and NZ offer this on your route.
I think DL and UA offer economy plus - same seat, same service but more legroom - you pay for this at time of booking.
Other thing to consider is trying to rack up Avios or VA miles to upgrade - only consider upgrading premium economy to business - do not consider upgrading from economy to premium as you can only do that with flexible expensive tickets. All PE fares are upgradable.
Also consider doing a flight plus hotel deal - you often get crazy deals which can equate to getting your hotel for free - do look at premium cabins for this too as the discount can be amazing!Legal team on standby0 -

Getting to London from Wales is not cheap and if flight is in the morning an overnight stay will add to the expense. Much better and can work out cheaper to fly from Cardiff via Amsterdam - KLM and Delta is a significant improvement over Virgin and the like.0 -
If I were you I'd fly Delta or United, whoever was cheapest. There isn't a whole heap of difference between the Airlines in economy. If you can go via NY on the way Kuwait Airways do flights cheaply from Heathrow to New York three times per week.0
