Made me laugh ! Why on earth would the landlords not have defended the case ?

What I do find strange is the number of places that don't seem to be making any efforts to switch from clamping to other forms of "enforcement" given we're less than 2 months from clamping being illegal.

  • Just for amusement I Googled "car clamping Scotland"

    Clamping in Scotland amounts to;

    1: Extortion
    2: Theft

And that was from a PPC

As it should be, folk must be looking forward to October.

So the landlord will now get a ccj if they don't make payment, stupid for a debt less than £200 to effect you for 6 years on your credit file.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Au contraire mon ami pie_face. And many thanks for posting. Support Your Local Paper is a great idea. It only takes a minute to register on this paper's website; give them an email addy and and a password and then we're up and away and we can all leave a comment each on the story. I know, I have. We should do this whenever a local paper runs a parking story. They're nearly all on t'internet now. :)

The pub makes no money out of the clamping

Correct, as the clampers keep all the money and drive away customers, so the pub loses money.

Clamptastic - 49 days to go until 1 October. Keep counting, muppets.

Wheel clamping without lawful authority will be banned in England and Wales from 1 October 2012, with anyone breaking the law facing criminal charges and a fine.

    Other jobs are available. :)

Although the BPA has asked them to stop in September, not all are members but I wonder how many who are do?

I was at a very nice local pub t'other day and noticed a board at the car park entrance saying that non-patrons would be clamped.

I actually feel a bit sorry for them as they are very close to a very popular attraction that has insufficient parking, and I'm pretty sure they don't clamp anyone, the notice is just there as a deterrent to the chancers.

I guess in a few weeks they'll have to change it to read "Car park free to patrons, all others pay £50".

Does the act ban the "threat" of clamping as well as the act of clamping itself ? If not then I expect to see a lot of signs remaining post 1st October.
