Single people with multiple pets - ermmmm?

I think it depends upon which pets you've got.
I always wanted a dog, but i was told it wasn't fair on the dog 'cos the poor thing would be by itself all day as we were all out. When i left home and got myown house i got the dog i'd wanted. But i was working long hours and it didn't take me long to realise i was being cruel locking him out all day and even more cruel leaving him in the house alone. So the dog had to go. Maybe different pets are Ok but i wouldn't leave a dog.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I would love your life!!
Honestly, people are far to eager to be sociable. Leve me alone with my Eastenders and my dog and I'm happy as anything!0 -
Am also single with many animal co habitants and am very content. My happiest time is sitting on the sofa with a book surrounded by my furries. Its each to their own in this life, you would waste more of your life trying to 'fit the mould' if thats not you. More people should just
accept themselves and live as they wish rather than feeling forced in to a stereotypical life path.0 -
Had a good clean up in the flat, kicked the cats out from the morning to have pawprints free place for a few min... took the dog out, brought the cats back in....
Off to the sofa with a book now.. blissssssssssssssssssssss

To me it sounds like you're definitely sorted!
You enjoy your home, pets and lifestyle. It may not conform to others' lifestyle choice, but everyone has the right to choose, and not feel 'weird' when their choices don't tally with the expectations of others.
You shouldn't need to make excuses, your lifestyle is your decision and sounds pretty good to me.

At work most of the day, home late-ish, by the time I deal with litter boxes/feeding/walking/letting out/collecting - 9pm, bath and bed and another day exactly the same.
Sounds like me too ......gettingready wrote: »Most Fridays my work lot go out for drinks - I have been working with them since March but never went. Have to go back home to take the dog out - my excuse.
It's a good one isn't it!;)gettingready wrote: »I do not look for people's company, been living like I do now for years and I think it suits me down to the ground. Have absolutely no patience for people in real life and especially for people who think they should "fix" me in general (as I must have a problem) or "fix" me with someone etc etc...
I get that too ..... people trying to set me up with blind dates etc - as both you and Voucherman have said, hearing about others' "issues" in their relationships, how unhappy they are (but they don't seem to do anything about it?:(), what people do to each other ..... I've no desire to go there!gettingready wrote: »Oh dear - reading this - I AM a weirdo...
Sounds perfect to me! If you're a weirdo ..... you're not alone!:D
Walking the dog at 6am - often not meeting another soul ..... and again in the woods at night, then tucked up on the sofa reading/watching TV (half smothered by said dog
) and then tucked up in bed with 1 purring fluffball on the pillow and the other keeping my feet warm ...... what more could anyone want!:D Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I did the social life - i was a holiday rep, when back in the UK i used to go out drinking/partying etc, I was the social animal. Then 10 years ago I got my first dog, then I got another, then I got another, then i got a cat. Now i dont' go out drinking (i stopped drinking by choice), i dont go partying, i go to work I come home repeat repeat repeat, my time with my dogs is precious to me and I love the fact that we live in the middle of nowhere with no neighbours, just me and the dogs, I know they will always love me, I know they will never hurt me, and I made a commitment to them which I will keep. One of my dogs got seriously ill at xmas and almost died - my life was ripped apart - some people call me the sad dog lady ................only I'm not sad - I'm happy with my life the way it is - I could change it if i wanted to but I dont want to.A home is not a home ..... without a dog

I'm a one woman, one dog set-up. But I still find myself saying to people, "sorry, can't come out tonight, the dog's been on her own all day I can't leave her alone all evening as well." Then they look at you as if you're weird. Which I possibly am, but it makes a good excuse even on the days when I'm not working. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Single here too, used to have two dogs but one passed away February 2011 at the age of almost 14 and a half, and I had to have the second pts in June this year, at the age of 16. I work full-time, so I can't have another dog or dogs at the moment

My mother used to live with me, so the dogs had company during the day, but she developed dementia and went into a home in December 2009 - fortunately, I have a very kind, understanding, dog-owning retired neighbour who was happy to look in on the boys while I was at work, but I don't want to put on him by getting another dog, much as I would love one (or two
)
I'm not a very sociable person, and as others have mentioned, the dogs were always my reason for not doing the after-work socialising thing on Fridays.
I'd give anything to have my boys back.0 -
Heloooo?
Anyone else?
I hardly ever venture outside pet forums as.. do not have time.
But having looked at my budget :eek::eek::eek:
.. may look at other places.
Get paid, pay the bills, get cat food/liter/dog food/tablets - look what is left for ME....:eek::eek::eek:
15 days till pay day - got £15.00. From that I need to top up my ticket to get to central london on friday (hospital appointment, outside my travel to work monthly ticket) and to richmond on Monday (Zara's 12 week appointment). So basically I have nothing
Next month looks the same... will have about £80.00 for myself for the whole month.
Someone direct me pls to "How to live on £80.00 per month - fod/toiletries and tobacco :P" thread?
Thanks LOL
(cats have dry food and litter till december, zara has dry food till december - and they do not work full time)0
