Havent read it all.....
Dont get out of there..Formally write and witness that you have informed your boss that the behaviour of the office manager is inappropriate and is causing you stress. Further, that her behaviour prior to your current period of illness has also created a stressful working environment for you. Collate evidence, stay off sick, convert your sore throat to workplace stress, litigate, get another job..keep all the data and equipment that are your personal possessions.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Perhaps you should read it all before giving quite frankly, bad advice.
How do you think the boss is going to react when faced with a staff member who won't share company passwords with management? Straight into a disciplinary or straight out the door.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Keep hard drive, contact all clients telling them your setting up on your own, steal clients, return hard drive after copying and ahem amending the code.0

Of course it would be reasonable to share said passwords and i would also suggest for the future that company retains its own assets. What would happen if this lady were run over by a bus? The company could face financial ruin because they hadnt guarded their assets.
Other than that,i believe my advice is good. This harridan in the office is behaving in a bullying and intimidatory manner.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). I really can't believe it. An employee works as a web designer for a low-rent company. As part of their job, they need to know usernames and passwords for the various sites.
So, are they stored in a document management system with password protection ?. No, they are stored on her personal HD in text format.
If I found out my web hosts were doing this, I would very publicly denounce them and move to a more secure design/host.
Do yourself a favour and email the passwords to the 'Office manager' then delete them from your HD.Never Knowingly Understood.

Thanks for your comments & suggestions. May I make it clear that the 'Office manager' has no responsibilities towards web design or looking after clients. She is supposed to invoice print work, which she is 3 months behind on doing due to her ebay fetish. She isn't my 'boss'.
I don't think i'm being paranoid at all. I started out being freelance for this company, they asked me if I could do work on a fulltime basis. Two weeks ago, the boss said we were all getting our books, and they would be starting a new company. Myself and another employee were getting to be directors with a 1% share, we are all going on minimum wage, and our previous wages will be topped up by dividends. An obvious ploy/scam that only makes them benefit.
Stitch up, you wave employment rights by becoming a director.
Did you get any contract with restrictive terms when you went full time?
How long as an employee
If you are any good set up on your own again or move on.0 -
Sadly there are all too many common features of small, "family" businesses here.
You yourself don't appear to have been given any real procedures for work and don't appear to see anything wrong with the data protection and business harm issues of you having unique control over a business asset. (What happens if you get knocked over by a bus?)
Minimum wage while holding up a duff company is only heading one way, it's going to fold.
Crap owner/managers whos only "skill" is in sales (any monkey can make a sale if they do it at any price) are egotists who feed on the knowledge mavens.
"Offering" directorships at minimum wage to gulible people who will be traceable to carry the can (joint and several liability) when the new venture fails are too commonplace.
I know you already know this, but package up this mess as tidily as you can, either to get a new employer, or set up for yourself at realistic prices.0 -
I've just received this text from my boss. The mind now boggles. I was going to go into work tomorrow, but now who knows? I know he likes a drink...but c'mon...
' You built yourself up as the best web developer in the world...and there are still spelling errors in EVERY one of your sites.
MZ !!!!ING MSC! You looked down your nose at my site I built in Serif WebPlus...even though yours was utter !!!!! Just like most of your other sites! I DEFY you to find any errors on my sites. I will learn Joomla/CMS myself and I personally guarantee that all my future efforts will !!!! all over your efforts.'
Curiouser and curiouser...to be honest, i'd rather be more worried about coding mistakes than spelling mistakes (sites are content managed, so it's up to the client to spell correctly imho).
I merely sent him a message tonight, saying we should have a meeting about procedures, shoud this type of thing happen again if i'm off sick. Now, i'm not sure what to make of this?! It's all very aggressive and a bit mad tbh!0 -
Doesn't sound like company is organised for any of that, other than he needs to get work done with no support which he is doing.Give her what she asks for, it's company property which you've taken off-site apparently without instruction or permission
Holding onto & controlling passwords from clueless interfering colleagues who could start causing chaos then start blaming you, is common sense.0
