Postie signed for recorded item and left it outside..

Bought something off eBay last week. Had a rec card thru the door this morning to say "Parcel in left hand bin.."
So I looked in and there it was, trapped in the bin lid... It had been sent recorded but I hadn't signed for it.
What if a passer by had spotted the bright yellow packaging peeping out of the bin and helped them self?

Then you would have complained to your delivery office and your seller.
Unfortunately it's fairly standard for RD to either be left without signature, however forging a signature is unacceptable. Maybe you ought to contact your delivery office anyway.0 -
No signature on a recorded item is pretty standard for me- several parcels a week with a lovely orange sticker and a signature maybe three or 4 times a year.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I would also complain about the forged signature. Although I fairly regularly get recorded delivery put through with no signature, I think the postman forging it is unacceptable too as it would have left you without recourse through eBay because of someone else's unscrupulous behaviour."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

What forgery? The signature is on a handheld, not on the packet. For crying out loud folks, please never go on a jury.
What if you had been out the door and the roof had fallen on you? Did it go missing? No. Make the complaint, but can the "what ifs".0 -
Can we just clarify whether the OP has proof the postie signed for it as per the thread title 'Postie signed for recorded item' or was it just left without requiring a signature?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There is just no pleasing some people is there
I daresay Harveys postie thought he was doing him a favour and saving him a trip to the sorting office. I do hope harvey isn't planning on reporting postie because I do feel that would be VERY unfair considering he received his goods.0 -
I would prefer my recorded delivery items to be left near my house as there is no parking at my local sorting office and it is about 5 miles away.0

A signature would be visible online - Harvey could probably check to see it."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

And you know that's what has happened? You've already got the postman down for forgery, I would give it a rest with the detective work.0

The seller would certainly be unhappy that they had paid for recorded delivery and it wasn't honoured.
Whether or not the fake signature is on a piece of paper or a handheld device, it is still forgery.0
