THIS IS A DEPRESSING POST SO DON'T READ ON IF YOU ARE HAVING A CHEERFUL WEEKEND....

I am sitting here crying and am using my thread to write down just how I am feeling. SickDog has taken a turn for the worse this week. She has another tumour, nothing to do with the illness she has had for years, and is now just having palliative care while we decide when she has had enough. To be honest I think she has had enough now, but DH says to give the tablets a chance to kick in and she may feel a bit better now that she's had her stomach drained.

SickDog has been my shadow for the last 10 years and already it is strange that she is not following me around. This morning when I got her up she had a waggy tail for a little while but had to be carried down the stairs. I have managed to get some tablets down her mixed in with watery fish as she doesn't seem to like solids so much now although I was also able to tempt her with a bit of toast.

I miss her bark which I haven't heard for a couple of days now, even though I used to tell her to shut up. At the moment she is wrapped in her blanket on the settee snoozing.

This weekend was supposed to be one of celebration as it is DS's birthday, but I plan to cancel our meal now and just get him here to say his goodbyes to SickDog.

I haven't lost a pet before, I don't know what to expect or what happens or what to do when we have to say goodbye this week as I'm now sure we will have to, and I am blown away by how badly this has affected me.

Sorry, this is not a money saving post, but I just had to get this off my chest before DD gets up and sees me in tears again, and of course I have to go out and walk OldDog and LittleyDog.

Hello diary. Well the situation with SickDog remains the same. We are taking her to the vet tomorrow and will have to take their advice on next steps. She has some really bad days and some not so bad.

Anyway, today is payday so back to a MSE mindset. I have sorted out the finances. Because of additional vet bills, we did have to go into the savings, but am hopeful we may be able to claim some back from the insurer. We will see.

I have to try really hard now to squirrel away anything I can to pay for the two planned treats for next year or I'm not going to be able to do them.

    Additional planned spends for November:

    Vet bills
    Arg0s bill
Day out with friends (this is something we do once a year and I don't see them from one year to the next so am keeping this in the diary for now)
DH work's do (we have to go to this as he is the boss)
New flooring for DD's room (have planned this for a while and can't put off now as SickDog has had a couple of accidents in there)

Other things to do in November:

Paint DD's room (already have paint and brushes ready for this so no spend)
Go on day out on train if we get time (have voucher for this)
See if we can do a day out for free with NT via bank acccount

Have been invited today to take part in a survey which will bring in another £5 amazon voucher.

I am also planning to do a Tesc0 online shop using vouchers to just get the stuff they do cheaper even cheaper.

    That's it for now.

Morning diary. Well the debt has fallen below £7k due to a repayment made today. This is the lowest it's been since our debt started 16 years ago as the initial debt was £7k and to my shame grew to over £50k by 2007.

I have also squirrelled away £15 to savings this morning as I'm trying to rebuild those to pay for our treats next year.

  • Morning Jazee,

Sorry to hear sickdog is no better, sending hugs.

Big well done on the debt getting below 7k, It must be a good feeling seeing it go down so much, you have done amazingly well considering it was more than 50k to start.

Thanks for popping in PWPS. SickDog was allowed home yesterday, we just have to try to encourage her to eat now or she will just starve. It's a good job she was quite fat to start with.

Last night DH and I went to his work's do and were lucky in the raffle with a shopping voucher, so all things considered a very good night out only cost us £3.

This morning we popped to town for essentials (used the last of the cash from last night instead of breaking into grocery budget) and we ordered the new flooring for DD's room. It came in at £90 under budget, so the new month is starting off pretty well MSE wise.

I don't think we'll be spending anything else today as the only going out will be a dog walk.

Have a great day, anyone who is reading.

Yesterday I squirrelled away £5 to my savings account. Today I am going to be bold and do £55 and just hope that nothing too unexpected crops up this month as I want to rebuild the savings now.

A sad week here in Jazee's joint as we had to say goodbye to our lovely SickDog on Wednesday. She died peacefully in her favourite spot on the sofa, the day before she would have had to go to the vet. So all very sad here as the house is strange without her and OldDog and LittleyDog keep looking for her.

MSE wise I have saved £260 so far this month and will stop for a while as I've reached the minimum monthly amount I need to pay for treat one next year and I may need any other excess I can squirrel for something else.

Our monthly vet bill budget for SickDog's treatment will now be spent on her cremation so at least that is covered.

I am mid way through my survey to get £5 amazon voucher, and DH is doing a small shop today. Am considering whether to do a big shop/Mr T shop tomorrow to avoid the crowds in December.

So last week, we did a sort of big shop but avoided doing a Mr T order. We have still nearly spent all our grocery budget though for November but both freezers are full.

The unexpected spend this week was a new bulb for the car. I just knew there would be something.

I got my amazon voucher for doing a survey and have used it to treat myself to the hairy biker's mum knows best cookbook.

I also got a default letter (first ever) after changing the pet insurance recently even though I cancelled everything properly. Think its sorted now but I was so mad about it. Also found out that the offer for the new insurance had expired. I still don't know either if the insurance will pay out for SickDog, but that's because at the moment, I can't bring myself to fill out the form.

Busy week planned this week so I am hoping I can keep to our budgets although I may need to dip into savings to buy some Xmas presents before the next pay day. Swings and roundabouts.

Hope anyone reading is having a great day.
