As promised diary, I have done the spreadsheety thing with the debt free date and DH have had a long chat about how we're going to tackle it head on and plan for old age.
We have three debts in total, all due to finish at different times, with the last being Mar 2015. If however, as each finishes we put the money on to the remaining debt we can bring this date forward to June 2014, maybe earlier, but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves.
So that, as they say, is the plan.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Taking a tip from another diary keeper, I'm losing the signature and will update my pot/savings/debt summary on Post 1 from now on. Much tidier!Spend less now, work less later.0

Hello Diary. Xmas Eve already!!! DH and I both had a NSD yesterday which makes 2 for December, may even get to 3.
Today has been really busy so far. Spendwise, approx £30 picking up meat and alcohol for Xmas, less than I expected, so pleased with that. I also got a mahoosive pork pie for £2 after our butchers wife miscalculated how many he needed to bake. And they're award winning pies too. Result!
It is pouring with rain here now, but earlier in the drizzle I walked the dogs.
The turkey is now cooked, all veg etc is prepped ready for tomorrow and apart from cheese dishes I've prepared all buffet food for tonight. Tried homemade sausage rolls, scotch eggs and smoked salmon tartlets for the first time, and all look successful, but haven't tasted them yet. Have had to have a right sort round in the fridge and cupboards to make room, but feeling very MSE.
Last minute cleaning beckons now and I may try to persuade DD to come to a carol concert tonight before the buffet.
I wish all lurkers of my diary a very very happy Christmas.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
MSE updates:
We have 3 NSDs for December under our belt.
We have stocked up on shampoo for about a year as it was less than half price.
We've been eating leftovers.
I have purchased at half price wrapping paper for next Xmas!
Ok, now for the good stuff. I have had an absolutely lovely Xmas, with lovely pressies, lots of food, nice time with DH and DD. I am still so excited, I'm like a child. I have also won a competition today so am now going to be eagerly awaiting the postman.
And DS is coming to visit at the weekend so I have that to look forward to.
To all the horrid people in the world, like my DDs employer, bah humbug.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
MSE stuff today:mmm, I had leftovers for lunch! Oh and I haven't spent any money today - yet.
My prize pack arrived today and there are lots of goodies for all the family including a tablet pc. Can't believe how lucky I was to win. DH also tells me that I won £10 on the lottery on Weds, so can't be bad.
And diary, I have my new hobby for 2013. Instead of telly watching, I will be learning to play a musical instrument. DH has got me all kitted out and used vouchers etc to get the best deal, worked out even cheaper than buying second hand on e*ay.
And that is what I'm off to do now, even if it is still 2012.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning diary. Well I did end up spending money yesterday but only on things I would have popped out for today, and some YS smoked salmon, as DH is making me/us a champagne breakfast on new years day.
DH is doing the main weekly shop again today, not that we need much. The only meat to purchase is chicken as all other meals will be from the freezer.
So I am at a loose end, as DS is not visiting this weekend now so I don't have to get a room ready for him or cook extra food. I am sure that at some point I will brave the gale and walk the dogs, and will potter about the house, but I won't be rushing around, thats for sure.
I got my lottery ticket checked last night but it wasn't a winner so think DH must have dreamt that win! And I'm not sure the tablet pc is working properly, so will need to get that checked out later.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Well the tablet pc is not working properly so I'll need to sort something out about that on Monday. In other news today, the dogs did get two walks round the rain and gales and I also did some housework, some instrument practice, puzzling and entered 6 competitions as I'm hoping I'm on a roll now!Spend less now, work less later.0

Hello diary. Today has been a NSD and I found £1 roundkill while out walking the dogs earlier, so very MSE. DH suggested that as I'm on a roll, I should spend the pound on a extra lottery ticket. My reply: if I'm on a roll the ticket I already have should win!
Today started really lovely. Even though DS had cancelled his visit, DH and I had breakfast together, walked the dogs and had lunch together (both made my DH), but then he had to go into work unexpectedly and won't be home till nearly midnight now. So the beef is still in the slow cooker, the prepped veg is sitting in cold water and I'm trying to plan next couple of days meals with it. DH is also working late tomorrow and may now have to work NY day. Can I freeze sliced cooked beef or do I need to put in in gravy first?
Anyway, I'm about to do some more practise on the joanna, and tea for me will now be leftovers with some couscous salad (DH hates that, so its a rarity for me).Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I have done my music practise and can now play the eastenders theme tune.
I have also just spent an hour listing some items on e*bay, have two watchers already, and am trying amazon for the first time as a seller.
Am just snacking on Xmas treats instead of the tea I promised myself and will probably spend this evening watching recorded Xmas stuff on telly while waiting for DH.
Did I mention that I actually went in the gym this morning? Go me!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I really should have read the e*bay thread on here before listing my stuff. I didn't realise that even when you do a buy it now people can still bid so I might not get as much as the buy it now price. I realise now I should have put reserve prices on instead. Never mind, I live and learn. And when I was listing it said to do buy it now was 8p but then charged 15p.
Anyway, one of the tasks on today's flylady thread is to count your blessings for 2012 so I thought I would list them here:
I have a great DH, DD and DS and 3 dogs.
I have a roof over my head and food on the table.
I have a job I enjoy.
I have reduced my debts and have enough money to enjoy myself sometimes to.
In 2012:
I fulfilled a long ambition and got to see the Queen
I went to my first live opera
I went to a couple of weddings which were lovely
Back to today: DH seems really miserable this morning but I think thats down to having to work these few NY days when he wasn't expecting to.
Right DH wants pc now so off to get dressed and walk the dogs.Spend less now, work less later.0
