  • If you're thinking of buying an Ikea kitchen, you might like first to visit a website I edit. It is called Kitchen Reviews Index, and analyses 4,600 customer reviews of 28 leading kitchen suppliers. The results are surprising. Some of the best known names (including Ikea) fall into our Avoid or Dreadful categories. Ikea, for example, is recommended by only 41.2% of reviewers - all of whom had the experience of actually buying an Ikea kitchen.

By contrast, four suppliers were (amazingly) recommended by 100% of reviewers, and another four were recommended by over 90% of reviewers.

You can find the website by Googling Kitchen Reviews Index.

Hi Alex, am also thinking of getting an Ikea kitchen and am more inclined after looking at the Which survey and the general fact that the vast majority that have them appear very happy with the quality. How are the partakers in your survey consulted, I noticed that John Lewis and other big kitchen providers don't appear to be included.

Definitely find someone local who can fit it for you. We got it delivered to our home but declined to use the assembly that the company offered us, the sink was ceramic, slipped off my hands and broke . Got a new one and called the company immediately haha

I got a quote (just outside of london) for fitting my Ikea kitchen (15 cabinets I think), including hob, sink, extractor fan, tiling etc. of just under £2000. But have instead decided to make up all the units myself and pay £500 just for the worktop fitting and tiling part.

They are just basic flat packs and surprisingly quick to assemble once you get going so you may want to consider that route if you have the time...
