Just finished a bowl of creamy chanterelle soup and it was brilliant. Mr Russetred forages for mushrooms on his walks and came home with loads of chanterelles so decided to make soup with them this time.
Fried up an onion with a clove of garlic and a sprig of lemon thyme. Added about 1lb and 1/2 of fresh chanterelles and sweated down. Then added 1 1/2 pints of chicken stock made using 2 value chick stock cubes. Simmered for 10 minute, added 1/2 a carton double cream and whizzed.
Wow doesnt taste like mushroom soup more like roast chicken or butternut squash. Definitely making this again for freezing as chanterelles are seasonal."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0 -

Have you looked at some super-foods for counteracting the gout? I think cherries and celery (and celery seeds) are folk remedies for reducing uric acid.
SL
I also added galangal which is lemon-flavoured ginger from the Orient. Citrus juices help alkalize the blood and redissolve uric acid crystals (although doing this too quickly can move them to the nearby synovial fluid).
I enjoy meat but now only eat one meat/fish meal per day, and have one day per week meat-free. Tart cherries are low in purines but are difficult to source locally, so I am going to buy concentrated cherry extract. Celery, cucumber, tomatoes and bananas are very good, but potassium, sodium and magnesium levels must be carefully monitored.
If I restrict alcohol to 4/5 pints once a week and have a glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda morning and evening (together with Allopurinol), I should be ok. It is a learning curve for each individual and my gout is a consequence of other medication which is very frustrating. Notwithstanding, I will be sorely tested at Xmas.

I also just spent a bit of time looking around those "Elite" threads. Gotta say, even with the explanatory posts at the beginning, I didn't understand a single word. I vaguely got the jist that the idea is to take advantage of supermarket computer glitches, but beyond that, it might as well have been in Japanese!Because it's fun to have money!
