  • Hi everyone! Just dropping in to say I had a no (grocery) spend day yesterday. Spent ALL evening (and most of Saturday evening too) helping OH with a job application - he's not happy at the moment in his current work as he's quite ambitious and has no means to progress. Job he's applying for he's very excited about as would be a big step up and new challenges, also would be a massive step up money-wise so fingers crossed. Even if he doesn't get it I'm glad he's actively applying as he's not been happy for a while.

He would be amazing and fantastic at the job as he is really good at what he does but it was a really hard application form and tbh the written word is not his strength. I have an English degree (and took a masterclass at uni of CV writing/job applications) and do loads of writing in my job  so he wanted me to help him with it, which in practise meant he told me what he wanted to say and I spent hours actually writing the thing. It was actually the most challenging application I've ever filled out in terms of questions asked so he better get it now! :rotfl:

Meant to make mince pasties with roasted carrot/parsnips but took so long for the application that I just did mince and tatties instead as couldn't be bothered with pastry.

    photo41.jpg

Used 250g mince, one large onion and an enormous carrot, sauteed then added a good half litre of beef stock. Simmered down for around 40 minutes until reduced, added a couple of handfuls frozen peas and then made up a third of a mug of really thick bisto to add in, plus lots of pepper to taste. Served with boiled potatoes as OH not keen on mash, plus two parsnips chopped into wedges and roasted with honey and sea salt. So tasty and made dinner for both of us plus lunch for OH today. You could bulk it out more with lentils/more veg but I was happy with it.

£36.96 on Tescos home delivery for once as I had to wait in for another delivery man. On the back of the statement is a leaflet for Tescos Deliverysaver - pay delivery upfront for 3 months (£36) or 6 months (£60) and have no further delivery charges - off to get the calculator to see if this would be cheaper than me spending the diesel to get there (22 mile round trip)

Diesel costs me about 22p per mile if I have to pay full price - £4.82 per trip.
In a 4 week month this could be a cost of £19.36 for a once a week shop for 3 months that is £58.08 so a potential saving of £22 hmm interesting....
  • Spent £56 on the weekly shop on saturday but they didn't have the nappies I wanted so went to another tesco on Sunday and spent £32 on 6 packs of nappies, milk and a baguette for lunch. Shouldn't need anymore nappies now until Xmas :D (or when Huggies go half price again)

Off to asda this afternoon as need to use the post office and look for some school uniform for DD1. They also have some offers on shampoo and conditioner so I might get a few to last me a few months. I could possibly blow my budget really early but we do have a lot of food in

    Hello all

Spent £6.86 in Mr T + £2.99 on a big bag of basmati rice from the Lebanese shop near work (worked out cheaper than Mr T or Mr S surprisingly!)

On Friday I got a £10 off £50 voucher code from Mr A. I've never used them before so went to the website and started to do a shop (not as user friendly as other grocery delivery sites). Problem is, because I go on holiday on Sunday and the earliest delivery slot was on Thursday, I would have had to get no fresh food, and all things for the freezer and cupboards. I do need to get things, but not enough for £50 worth of food unfortunately. Anyway - booked it, amended delivery on Saturday, amended delivery again twice yesterday, amended it today, and then finally cancelled. I had to take things off my list because I've bought them along the way as regular shops (rice, squash etc), and found I was adding just for the sake of it!

They must know I don't need to shop, because Mr A, Mr T AND Mr S have sent me vouchers over the past few weeks trying to entice me to go to them. Only my favourite Mr W isn't doing it. :(

Have fun at the games today SuffolkLass :D

  • Hi All,

I am already really behind with the thread so will post now and catch up later. I hope everyone is well.

I am going to go for £350 again this month. DH managed to get some lovely bargains from Mr S including 4 x packs of 500g mince for 20p each :j so we had a super cheap chilli last night.

Freezers are full to bursting and I have a stock cupboard order from Mr T coming tonight courtesy of a free delivery code they sent me.

Mantra for the month - WE WILL EAT FROM THE FREEZER!!!
