Morning! Welcome to all the newbies :) Hope you find this thread to be as inspirational and encouraging as I do! Well, my month starts tomorrow, but it is unlikely to be a spend day either today OR tomorrow, so I'm off to a good start. Mealplans are already done, as are shopping lists, and the exciting feeling of determination to save money is there.

Today I'll be roasting a chicken and using it for loads of meals. If there's any room in the oven I'll bake a batch of the cookies from the front page to fill the space (and the biccie tin). Might need to put that idea on hold though as I could do with shifting a few pounds!

Anyway, looking forward to starting the challenge properly, but bring on September's challenge!

    Kxx

I have split my budget this month into holiday food (self catering for 2 weeks), stuff for home and alcohol. I have spent £38.40 on food for our holiday and just need to get fruit, milk, bread, a gammon joint and sausages before we go next Saturday. Oh yes and a couple of cases of beer and a couple of bottles of wine to stop visits to the shops which will result in more spends. These costs all come out of my holiday spending budget.

Home spends are higher than I would have wanted them to be but do include 5kg sugar and a new razor and 12 blades for DH from costc0. The razors will last him well into next year but I like to take the hit in the month I spend the money otherwise I feel like I am kidding myself.

Alcohol is probably goingto go over what I had planned as DH will want a couple of beers tonight but probably no more until hols as he has some big meetings this week at work and will want to be fresh for those. God I make him sound like a heavy drinker which he isn't at all.

Made JJs Cheese bread again yesterday as DH adores it. I might take the ingredients and make some on holiday too as it is nice change from bread, especially the not so nice GF bread I have to eat!

  • I'm back after spending the last month in India, desperately trying to hold onto the tan but I think it's a losing battle!!

Started my month on 23rd August and aiming for £175 this month. Will add up what I've already spend so far and post a total later today.

Thank you to Helen Jelly for all your hard work on the thread and to Rosie Ben and everyone else who makes it work so well :T:T

Oooh, what a lot of newbies! Hello and welcome  Hope it works out well for you all.

Suffolk Lass - thanks for the spray recipes. I use half and half water and white vinegar and a few drops of eucalyptus oil in a spray in the bathroom. It stops the mirror steaming up!

I'm still officially in August until 2nd Sept, but will keep up on here, otherwise there will be hundreds of posts to catch up with :D
:rotfl: That is what I am doing.
Hi to everyone who is new. :)

I am still in August until the 31st. I don't have a pay day as I live off savings so I just run the budget for the full month.
We are having beef casserole and dumplings today. I have wanted them since I posted about them yesterday.:o

Hello all, please could you put me down for £150 starting from 29 August? I have started these before and not stuck to them but determined this month. Work have announced a round of redundancies which thankfully arent hitting my team but is the big boot up the backside which I need to get my act together. Happy long weekend all!

I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
    Advice please!

Yesterday we cooked baked potatoes, but my son wasnt well, so didnt eat his. I wrapped it in tin foil and left it in the fridge overnight.
Can i reheat it in the oven? If so, how?
  • I would cut in in half scoop the middle out mix with some tuna mayo and top with some grated cheese and put back in the oven or microwave? or you could replace the tuna mayo with chopped up bacon or ham OR just sprinkly some water on the jacket wrap in foil and put in the oven for about 15 mins to warm thru again, the water helps to stop it drying out so much x
