I love chinmeneas.
Id never buy a patio heater not only are they environmentally dire but they are a hassle in terms of having to cart around calor gas canisters. I did buy my folks one once.
I did see last year ( to confuse your further) woolies were doing a patio heater that you can plug in to the electricity. they were cheap too at about 25 quid.
Personally, I would always go for chim, you can burn your garden waste in it too ( sticks and the like) and use the ash in your garden which is good for the soil apparetntly
Anyone seen any cheap anywhere? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
If you want the rolls of wood/solid fuel heater look at this one ..it is made from a blast furnace type material which has insualation properties so good the back of it can be placed quite close to a fence or plants as all the heat comes out of the front . http://www.dingley-dell.com/

Well I am glad things sound like they have improved on the chimnea front - I bought a Mexican imported one about 9 years ago from the Ideal Home and found because it was only terracotta (not really frost hardy) that it got too soaked in rain over winter and subsequently smoked for ages terribly when it was lit (to the point that we gave up using it).
It now sits in the border as a part time plant house and part time cat napping cool spot with a bit of a view on a hot day for my cats!
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
