    Hi Guys,

Looking for one of these for the Summer months. We have open fire in the house and free supply of logs so thought it would make a nice atmosphere on the patio!

Cast Iron from reviews is by far the best choice in terms of value and I've read that having it open 360 degrees is great for all who surround it in terms of heat as opposed to one opening.

Therefore, does anyone have any comment on the below? Reviews seem positive and it's reasonable......

Have you thought about Infrared Garden Heaters? They don't heat up the air, just the person. Lots of pubs are using them in their beer gardens instead of expensive to run gas patio heaters.

    Patio heaters heat the sky...
Chimneas are ok, but a group of people sitting round them has a chimney in the way!
Firepits, however, rock. Light it about an hour before you'll need it. We've been using ours for the last 6 weeks every weekend, even when it's been really cold- and a group of up to 10/12 people have been sitting round it up to midnight- still warm.

It's now known as the "communal" firepit, everyone in the vicinity loves & uses it. Certainly the best pressie I've ever had :)

Creased Leach, thanks for informative response. Do you have a link to your firepit, or a similar firepit?

Did you open my link above, it's 360degree opening for maximum heat to all etc. We have full free supply of logs, is that what you use on your pit?

    Thanks

Thanks for link. Doesn't quite bring in the same 'atmosphere' though I don't as a roaring fire!
