£156 for a BMW clutch is a very low price, usually oem clutches are £200+0

Hi, just spoken to Sytner. Car is all ready for me to collect. They have said that they will be charging me retail price plus VAT. Plus the cost of the loan car for insurance. He ain't budging & insists he is doing me a favour. I'd say taking advantage of female drivers who are clueless when it comes to cars & cornering them!0

Sounds like your driving style is killingthe car - two DPF faults and now the DMF too! It's always worth putting a new clutch in when you have gearbox work done as it saving having to do it later in your ownership..
Let me guess, like most people - you bought a diesel "for the economy savings..".0 -
Hmmm 43 in three years isn't too bad I don't suppose. It might well be that you simply have a friday afternoon car aka a lemon.
Friend recently had a new bike of Yamaha as they couldn't find the ignition fault it had despite putting in new ECU/sensors etc.
Makes sense to swap the clutch out, good selling point. Usually at three years old I'd say better the devil you know and if it is a reliable car, keep it. Yours isn't so I'd say the same as above. Punt it on as a one owner car with FSH, lady owner etc and get soemthing different. Especially if you can keep your payments the same (assuming finance).
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
No my driving style isn't that bad... I get bad road rage but that's down to incompetent drivers!
Car is owned outright so no finance on it.
Yes, everyone advised me to get diesel cos of its savings blah blah...
After leaving Sytner, the clutch felt very "spongy" I'm putting that down to it being new so I guess il have to get used to it.0 -
You'd be surprised at how many people say they are a good driver and dont abuse their car.. Yet they hold the car on the clutch at junctions or creep forwards in traffic. Worse one is parking with the wheels on full lock - causes all sorts of stress to the suspension if left for several hours.
EDIT: My neighbour STILL has winter tyres on the front of her 207. I asked her why and her reply was "Well whats the point in changing when they have good tread.."
I walked off shaking my head..0 -
we had the same issue with the judder on a 56 plate bmw 320d touring, had 4 bmw's now and none have been ultra reliable just good as company cars. Now got an Audi and thats a bit better for reliability. In fairness the dealers have always been very good.
"Good as Company cars" about sums it up. With a failure rate of 41% [What Car? data which consistently show Honda as best, currently 10%] you'd want someone else to pick up the bills.0 -
I agree with company car comment!! I defo just need to get rid I think.
I don't think I'm a bad driver. I do hold the clutch out & creep actually. Ur neighbour seems mad to have winter tyres still on! Nutter!0
