But no matter how many you collect from such locations, getting four identical seems to be impossible.0 -
Nasty :rotfl:
OP, make sure you cable-tie the trims in place next time, it'll stop the scroats from targetting your car, they'll just move on to the next one.
Not around here, the cut the cable ties off with wire cutters. Agree that it's useful to stop them popping off on holes in the road, road humps, roundabouts etc. Not exactly decorative, though.0 -
If you do cable-tie your trims in place, make that you've also got yourself a pair of wire cutters, otherwise you may find it difficult to take the wheel trim off to change the wheel yourself if you have a puncture.0

unlikely to happen realistically. but if you have a severe accident and you are at fault and the payout looks like it could be massive, the insurers will send out a private investigator and look for anything that they can void your insurance for.
They have done this for minor things like a lad had go fasterr stripes on his car and they voided the insurance. I saw on bbc watchdog a long time back that a guy wrote on his insurance that his car was kept in a locked garage at his home. Well it turned out that the locked garage wasn't part of his home but it was some distance away from the actual residence. they voided his insurance over that.
The terms and conditions state that any enhancement/mod/decoration that's not included when it is drive out of the factory is an after market mod and it needs to be declared.
So you should either install hub caps that came that are the same model and make as what the car origianlly came on, or phone up the uinsurers and tell them that you're installing an after market dub cap.
My gut feeling is the after market probably isn't worth it, as the other poster said it will look crap (I've seen some at halfords they look very very cheap), the insurers will probably charge you a small fee for them too.0 -
just take them all off..... unless you like looking at your car saying ooooooooh Nissan Almera while drooling. Dont see why people make so much fuss over a bit over priced cheap ugly plastic disc trying to pretend they are alloy wheelshannahsmamma wrote: »some local toe-rag has stolen wheel trim off my car so need to replace it. Can I use any type to replace it, will prob have to buy 4 and change the other 3 over. Car is a Nissan Almera with 15" tyres.
in any case yes you can replace with any hub cap even ones from bmw providing the are the same diameter as your wheel ie if your tire says 195/45 16 you have 16 inch wheels so you would need 16 inch hub caps.
beware on the cheap caps the clips like to snap off as you put them on so buy a few zip ties....what ever caps you get buy zip ties! and zip the caps to the wheel this makes it harder to steal and remove when you have a flat so invest in a pair of cutter pliers0 -
so that means there are 100's of uninsured cars out there with plastic chrome spinners, I have even fitted pattern headlamps bumpers and body panels. where does it all stop?londonTiger wrote: »unlikely to happen realistically. but if you have a severe accident and you are at fault and the payout looks like it could be massive, the insurers will send out a private investigator and look for anything that they can void your insurance for.

I like these wheel trims from Amazon. They are a bit like the ones I had nicked last year.

In my yoof we used to take the hubcaps off and spray paint the wheels silver. We thought it looked great.0
