We are moving on Monday after 26 yeras here. 4 bed house absolutely crammed with stuff (though I have de-cluttered quite extensively). They are coming to pack it all on Sunday and moving it (all of a mile down road) on Monday. My OH is HOPELESS at this stuff ( would prefer never to tip) but assuming they are nice and efficient and it all goes OK I imagine I would like to tip them - so can someone kindly tell me what we should do ?

I haven't tipped and must admit it had never occurred to me to do so.0

I didnt tip but I kept them supplied with a steady stream of cold cans of drink and tea/coffee and biscuits. I was paying quite enough I think :-)0

I do, enough for a couple of rounds of drinks for the crew. If they go above and beyond then I tip £20 each but we use small removals companies and so not a lot of men to tip.0

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0

Yes they always get a tip (moved 7 times in 10 years!) plus they get tea & coffee.
Bit tight not to tip - I don't think it's particularly well paid job and they usually work bl**dy hard!0 -
I tipped £50 between the 2 guys when I moved to a 3 bed house. I also bought them some bacon sarnies as soon as they arrived in the morning. I made them loads of teas and also had a supply of soft drinks and biccies. This was all very appreciated, they were excellent workers and managed to get my sofa in by taking it upstairs and out of the back bedroom window as it wouldn't fit into my living room from the hall. They only broke 1 wine glass too. If I move again I'd factor an extra £60ish onto the cost when budgeting for tips etc.0

If they do a decent job then absolutely yes. Their pay isn't great and my blokes worked bloomin' hard to pack, upload and unload. Bought them bacon sarnies, plus tea/biscuits too. Well worth it.0

Gosh, I'd never thought of tipping them either.
I have a low paid job in service and I work hard, but I don't get a tip :-(
I do always give tea, coffee and biscuits though. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
I moved recently. I thought all 3 of them worked hard, therefore tipped them a £10 each. Just a bit of beer money as a thank you.0

I do not tip removal men or any other tradesmen who carry out work in my home. If I had a regular gardener or cleaner I would tip then at X Mas as I do with postie."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
