I used to get that too. I'd get so irritable with it, and would often feel sick too.
I wouldn't say I've fully adapted to fat burning yet, but it has definitely eased....a LOT!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

I did say that *I* personally would suffer though I may have dramatised it a littleBefore I adapted to fat burning, whenever I got hungry I would get dizzy, anxious and trembly and for years, I believed this to be "hunger". It was only after changing to a higher fat, lower carb diet that I realised that isn't what hunger feels like at all, just my body not dealing with the blood sugar highs/lows very well.
However, there are plenty of people out there that do eat higher carbs and not have a problem fasting. In fact, I belong to a group of amazing women who IF and lift heavy - most of them follow the leangains protocol which cycles calories & carbs according to training/rest days and they have no problem eating high carbs. I just do.
I am really not pro or ant low carb or high carb eating, i think people should eat well and healthily for them and i think the evidence that many feel overwhelmingly better on plans like yours is very heavily important in a discussion. My stance is simply that i want to find out more about IF especially with the seemingly contradictory information fromthe bbc about protein consumption on fast days.
i am NOT trying to dispute what you do....i can see its working for you. I just want to find out if i can utilise this too (with approval from my doctors). I am naturally what i describe as a snake eater. I would rather eat once a day. I hve no problem fasting, but need to stage an aproach to this healthily.
Atm with health conditions my weight Has become an issue complicating them. I am one of those who should not launch into this without more info IMO and I am reading this thread as a fuel to my interest in finding out more. Upday down day fasting has always appealed to me, its just whether it would be healthy for me, and what plan i would follow to make this work for MY specific requirements, which are obviously different from yours. I am rrying to get a wider view of this, and while this thread alone is not going to give that, it is interesting to read, and it is very heavily biased to low carb if so far as I can see, which may be because it is more successful for them, or maybe because they are more aware eaters? i don't know, but i would like to get a better idea!
It IS really helpful that you also know successful carb eating IFs. Fwiw,i need to watch protein intake, but i know i feel better when not eating ceratin carbs too. Incidentally i didn't have a probelme with any carbs till i cut them out, then i found i started having discomfort when they were reintroduced. I know i do well when some foods are part of my daily intake. For example, i am one of those seemingly rare people who does well on milk. I should probably try to switch to full fat milk to see how that is for me.0 -

I really don't think you need to concern yourself about the protein comments made by the BBC. If I recall, it was about those eating a high protein diet such as athletes & body builders who could be eating in excess of 2g/kg body weight per day. A normal person would struggle to consume this amount of protein daily, especially combined with fasting. If you aim to consume 0.5-1g/kg body weight then you're eating a healthy amount of protein“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I bought my first carton of full fat milk earlier this week. I was apprehensive simply because I was so accustomed to the taste of semi skimmed. But, I've gotta say I didn't notice that much of a difference in taste. It's a bit thicker...creamier, but the taste is pretty much the same. Well, that's my experience anyway.
Have you been able to move more around the house LIR? I hope you are continuing to feel better! I never did get to do that walk with the OH on Wednesday - I got home just before the heavens opened and unleashed an almighty thunderstorm. We're hoping to go for a walk tonight instead (he was out at the cinema with a friend last night so I had youtube on full blast whilst dancing around the apartment! lol).February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

I am feeling SO much better than i was its almost indescribable. How kind of you to ask, you are always so considerate euro. I have had two walks atound the fields today and just generally feel better, so the new meds are working ( hurrah). Its more stamina than i have has for weeks:o. Its really important i shed weight quickly. I spoke to the neurologist this aftrnoon and they said to talk to the endocrinologist asap but they would be 'content' with me fasting for weight loss from their pov.
Later dh and i plan to take the dogs for a longer romp and may be, if my head holds up, i would like to do some thing more strenuous, but not much more. I think we might do a yoga session, so i can just sustain a feeling of wellbeing and gentle activity.
It feels good to be back in the land of the living.0 -
I'm so pleased to hear that LIR. I know how horrid it can be emotionally, to be stuck inside unable to do anything or very little. Long may it continue!February wins: Theatre tickets0

And I suppose, if anyone wanted to, they could have a holiday from IF for a week or two.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
When i used to travel i fpund its quite natural to not eat during the travelling day, in a rush in the morning, drinking a lot for flights, feeling a bit bloated on a flight, lack of decent food at decent prices en route and the expectation of a nice meal froma different culture on the first evening. I noted the much quoted eating guru said much the same.0
