Which area of the country are you in? I've found it in Asda, various pound shops and a couple of corner shops. Wilkos do it, but there isn't one near me.

    I'm in Stockport hun.

Not got a Wilkos nearby, and Asda is a car ride away.

I did email to ask where they sold it, and they said Tesco, but I've never seen it.

    Hi

I find they sell out quickly in my local Tesco and also they tend to hide it a bit more than the pricier brands  Have you asked & if so what was their response - I got a horrified look!!:rotfl:

I tend to do a 'bigshop' once a month then top ups weekly..
Big shop consists of looroll, kitchenroll, flours, staples mainly I suppose and the more pricey items like cheese etc.(£150)
Weekly shops tend to be more just fruit, milk bread and veg and any other little bits we run out of.(£50 approx)
I do however have to do a special shop/s for youngest as he's on a special diet which costs a small fortune (usually around £75 a month  ) for stuff I can only get in specialist shops..

I shop weekly from Asda. Once you have shopped then dont go near a food shop again until the week is up no matter what you run out of, try to manage on what youve got. Asda do some really good offers and when these offers come up I tend to buy them in bulk so that I dont have to buy this particular item for sometime. Im sure it works out cheaper that way.

I do my shopping fortnightly on tesco.com. I aim to spend £50 so that I can use a code to get an extra 500 clubcard point code. Often have to bump my total up by buying things that I know that I need such a loo roll, washing powder, dishwasher powder etc etc.

I try to meal plan but working 2 shift work type jobs means that I don't always stick to it and am often fed whilst a work.

Doing it the tesco.com way means that I can convert my vouchers into deals and it means my friend and I can eat out once a fortnight at somewhere like Bella Pasta which I think is pretty cool and is essentially free!

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Really, how do you guys survive on spending such little on food per week?

I am really trying to slash my outgoings. I shop at Lidl and spend around £15-20 per week, but then also spend about another £10 topping up.

I only need to make meals for myself, but its still expensive.

    Hey carlos

I plan meals for a week and shop once a week for everything I can get that won't go off by the end of the week and just do a little "top up" shop on Thursday or Friday for fresh veg.

What you do need to do is build up your essential store cupboard bits like herbs, spices, rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes, beans & pulses, stock cubes, bread for freezer (go to supermarket in the evening when it's all reduced and buy as much as you can freeze!), cartons of milk that you can store if you drink that sort of milk (I drink soya milk so that's easy).

If you build up your store cupboard then you can often put many cheap meals together with some fresh veg.

Check out the Old Style board for good tips & recipes they were a God send for me.

Let us know how you get on! :)

I buy daily! I have to go past Asda on the way home from work, and I go in daily, head straight for the reduced section, and buy whatever they have there - my local Asda is always brimming every night with reduced things, from sirloin steak, ready meals, fruit, veg, bread. We eat fantastically because of this. There's only the two of us, and we don't eat frozen meat, but I find if I get a reduced chicken, and strangely the organic chickens are always reduced, I cook it, make curry, make soup. I keep a few odds and ends in the freezer, OH travels quite a bit so I always have home made soup, ready made meals, etc for me. I am extremely strict in my buying, I don't have debt but I have a huge trip abroad to pay for, and I'm not swayed at all by bogofs, and only ever buy the absolute essentials. I tried menu planning but OH works late a lot of the time, and I refuse to have food lying about, even in the freezer, and my mindset says that that's "stock" if you like which has been paid for but not used, and the money spent on that food could have been used for my trip abroad! I agree it won't work for everyone, and as I say there are only two of us, but it's transformed the way I shop!

Spud - you're not a million miles away from me! If you ever get into Manc, pop into the pound shop on Piccadilly. They do Stardrops, Starclen and the Star-thing-with-pine-in-it for 58p a bottle.

You may see me lurking near the ground coffee for a pound a bag...

    Ker-ching!

    EDIT: QUALITYSAVE!

    Thanks for that Minnie.

I've seen a Qualitysave somewhere locally, cant flipping think where it is though

I will keep me eyes open when I'm out and about and go and have a look in when I find it.
