Lilmissmups - Shrinking the first mortgage I have ever had!

Our first scheduled mortgage payment went into the account yesterday meaning the new mortgage balance is £109,076
Bit of a silly question but need it clarifying if we can overpay 10% a year and the starting balance was £111,534 I am right in thinking we can pay £11,534 off before next July?
I haven't been feeling my best this week so no extra money making done and I have totally messed up on Swagbucks this month so have given up for this month, might give myself a break from it.
September is a really busy month for me, I have my friend coming back home for a couple weeks from Israel, another friend moved back here from London, back to college to start my 2nd year of my course and the hen do and the wedding I am bridesmaid for!
I do not need to be burnt out for all of that. Trying to dose myself with vitamins and rest.
OH is working on the bathroom now and I am supposed to be going to town with friend to buy bits for hen do but not heard from her yet so think I should do some house tidying.
Its so hot already though!!! :cool:Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Hi, my mortgage runs April to April. So I can pay 10% of the starting balance. You'd best check. Well done. Sounds like you are doing a great job!Starting balance £173,000 (Sept 2012) interest only so if we do nothing We will owe this at the end of the term😁😁
Balance as of Sept 2014 £165,803
Balance as of Feb 2015 £163,360
Balance end of July 2015 £159,050
Balance as of Jan 2017.... £138,033:j0 -
Well nothing really got done yesterday.
Went into town to meet my friend but she was hungover so didnt stay in town long.
Then I came home and slept for a few hours, got a Dominos for tea and then watched Cowboys VS Aliens then went back to bed!
I am starting to feel back to normal now though so I am sure all the extra sleep helped!
So I am going to try and do some MSE stuff today, first plan of the day is to tidy our bedroom and possibly get rid of some clothes/shoes maybe for sale on the facebook group if not will give to charity shop. Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Mine is March to March. I think it depends when your current deal started? Definitely best to check as excess overpayment charges will outweigh any overpayments.Mortgage 1: May 2012 £90,000 April 2020: £47,000
Mortgage 2: £270,000😱 Jan 2019 £253,000 April 20200 -
My new deal only started in July so I am sure it will run July-July for my overpayments.
Ever had one of those days where you feel like you are spiralling deep into a never ending mess?
I am getting a bit overwhelmed by the things I need to orgainise and pay for over next 2 months so am going to write a list in here and cross them out when done.- [STRIKE]Book doctors appointment[/STRIKE] Thursday 30th August 7pm
- [STRIKE]Book dentist appointment[/STRIKE] Tuesday 11th September 5.45pm
- [STRIKE]Book hygienist appointment[/STRIKE] Saturday 22nd September 9am
- Book periodontist appointment
- Book hair appointment to get cut and dyed before the wedding
- [STRIKE]Book vet appointment for one of my cat's booster jabs[/STRIKE] Saturday 13th October 10am
- Book car service once it hits 100,000 miles as already overdue
- Ring up insurer to get them to remail Izzys cat insurance paperwork as deleted it
Payday Friday so can work out next months budget then, its going to be very tight in September and October. Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Payday yesterday and after all the bills going out I have £114 to last the month in my social fund..... That includes money for the hen night so looks like a month of staying in or doing very cheap things!
Got to take out £500 of my savings this month to pay for my college course for next year, £250 that I would be normally saving has to go to that too although I will still transfer £250 from my normal savings account to the 6% regular one.
If I am very careful with cash this month though it means next month I will have the extra cash to get the car serviced and cats booster jab done.
I have edited the list to do above with the extra things now booked.
I haven't done much swagbucks this month which is my main income earner so need to get back on that in September as want to try and claim £50 paypal from that to go towards my dental appointments.
I am on a healthcare plan through work now where I can claim £90 back a year for dental costs, due to me seeing a private dentist due to the extra treatment I need this won't go far but I will be able to claim one of the appointments coming up back, will claim the most expensive one.
I could upgrade the health cover but theres no point as it still won't cover the dental costs I pay out.
.
Think its time to dig out some old books/cds and dvds to sell.....
I would like to try find the extra cash to take mortgage to under £109k too.....Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Had a good few days on the money making front.
Got £120 worth of Nectar points from doing a special project for Nectar Canvess through so I have ordered amazon vouchers with that.
Managed to win £60 off a bingo site offer, and have a few bits and bobs listed on eBay too.
Spent £17 on dinner out last night for me and OH and £2.50 on lunch today.
Had a bit of spendy weekend as purchased a 2nd hand TV off eBay for OH's daughter for £82 and a 2nd hand PS3 for his son for £102 so we can have our living room and tv back as all they do is use our telly or argue about using our telly!
So are moving the TV we had from our bedroom that was never watched as no aerial into his son's room, and brought a loft aerial and connectors so they can watch tv/play games with no fussing and fighting so well worth the spend
.
OH will pay me back for PS3 for his and we brought his daughters TV using £55 of cash we had got from selling stuff already, its all going out of their pocket monies too which OH had been logging for them. Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
More good news on the money front.
Sold OHs cement mixer he brought for doing his house extension for £100 via eBay so I am keeping that cash to pay off the PS3 for his son I paid for.
Sold a dress I brought but have never had an occasion to wear for for £21 on eBay and have a pair of boots selling for £21 with 4 days to go too.
Also my Dad is giving me £250 to go towards my college course for this year so that can go back in savings
Its one of my nieces 6th birthday on Tuesday so seeing her today to drop off her present so got 2 gifts reserved at Argos for £20, might get my other nieces too whilst there as its her 4th birthday on 29th and not sure I will see her again before then as they live in Brighton so might as well do that today even though could do without spending another £20.....
Really hoping a good extra money earner arrives so we can make another £2k overpayment ASAP.
Think more eBaying required but don't have much thats worth selling, most of the kids stuff is books or toys that we give to charity and I don't buy many clothes so never have any to sell.

Money is slowly fading and its still 15 days to payday!
And £40 in the bank.....
And I still need to have my hair cut and dyed for the wedding, go out on the hen night, buy an outfit for the hen night and a bag for the wedding to go with my dress and go out next weekend with the bride too!!!
Going to have to break into the savings.
Sold a few bits on eBay which might help a bit and hoping £43 pays out from TCB this week too.
No real movement on the mortgage front but hopefully after the wedding and October when I have more bills to pay all will be ok!!!Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
£36 spent at the dentist today and was told I need to get a filling for £75..........joy! I love my bad teeth....:o But it was my choice to go private and I do feel more comfortable there....shame I picked a bad dentist/orthondontist before I could have saved loads had I had found someone who advised me better instead of taking loads of cash for orthodontic work which has given me gum issues....even though my teeth are straighter!
On a more positive note that appt isn't until 23rd October.
I do have a hygienist appointment on 22nd which will cost me about £50 though and have booked my hair appointment at my expensive hair dressers but want it to look good for the hen night and wedding.
Thinking of treating myself to a massage whilst I am off for the wedding too, feel like I need one!!!
I am on a MFW mission really.:oNow a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0
