Fifer - thanks for your explanation, however this method assumes that you can use both the left and right speaker cables together for elimination. The OP has already installed their speakers but is unsure that they are wired correctly. This method would not be "quick, simple and free" if the left and right cables had already been installed to the speakers in trunking or buried in the walls etc. and could not be tested together?
Yes, the method works but might or might not be practical depending upon cable routing.

[The most obvious, quickest and simplest method to ensure that the speakers are connected correctly in phase is to use a small AA battery - might not be free but most people would have a small battery available to use.

As suggested using slightly different methods in #16 and #17. (Although if the speaker cable is fixed in trunking, you'll have a similar difficulty trying to detemine visually whether the speaker cone moves in or out from six feet away at the amp end holding a battery - it becomes a two man job).

Indeed in addition it has 30 and 10s ranges as opposed to 25 and 10s ranges.

I bought my immaculate Model 8 (in its original P.O hard leather carrying case) on eBay a few years back. I think it cost around £40.
