Hey, I always seem to lose when bidding on that must have item with like a second to go! How do people manage to bid just after you even though you left it as late as you possibly could!?

ooops i am one of those people, i will time it so that my bid goes on in the last 5seconds!0

some people use sniping programs to automatically bid for them in last couple of seconds....0

Using snipe tools and placing the bid around 3secs before auction close. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
Some people use sniper software (I've occcasionally used Auctionstealer, and there are others available) to bid automatically in the last few seconds. Others might be sniping manually. One second is cutting it fine, though - that sounds a bit risky. About 3 seconds is more usual.0

If you bid higher than anyone else you can't lose
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
In case you have notread this before, a lot of people believe that the best way to bid on an ebay auction is to decide the maximum you are prepared to pay and bid it (possibly with a sniper program).
There is no point bidding less than you are prepared to pay just because the current high bidder is well below that figure.
I would have thought you would lose a lot of auctions simply because the current high bidder has a maximum significantly greater than the current high bid, and so you will be instantly outbid and not have a chance to bid again.0 -
Is there any way people can see your max bid? And any way that you can see their max bid? Cause if u leave it with 3 seconds to go then somtimes they still hav a max bid higher than yours!0
-
Well, you can't see their max bid except by bidding above it.0

The three rules for successful bidding on ebay are:
Bid your maximum.
Bid once.
Bid late. (in the final 10 seconds or later)
Anything else reduces your chances of winning and reduces your chances of winning at a lower price.0 -
i've sold many things where the winner has placed the winning bid days before the end. it just depends on how much other bidders are prepared to pay.
the one risky thing about you sniping is that if you are outbid then you have no time to enter another bid.0
