What site did it ask you to go to ? It sounds like its from a 3rd party company. They will jsut be trying to get you to take out a new contract phone, you even get these messages if you are on Pay as you go and not contract.

It will be from O2 3rd party site (ex O2), my virgin sim got a weird one the other day, it was a phone call,it just 1 rung my phone and thought it might be somebody trying to get hold of me so rang it back and it was a pre-recorded message) I didnt check the number before calling but should have done as it was a 0705 number and cost me £3 !

I would register it, i did after I got stung for that £3 ! I only had used the simcard for 2 days and I hadn't even used it to ring out so god knows how they got that number, maybe thats how virgin can offer the £5 free credit on the simcards by selling the phone numbers to companys ?
