Daily OS Wednesday 8th August 2012

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 8th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you goto bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning everyone I was up with the larks this morning ,well more the collared doves, which were sitting on my roof courting (noisy devils :):)
Looking out of my window the clouds are quite high over the river Medway but as yet the sun hasn't appeared, fingers crossed for that.
I am taking my DGS to Rochester cathedral today as there is supposed to be the BBC South East's Queens Diamond Jubilee mosaic picture made up from over 5.000 odd photo's that folk sent in.It started out at the Turner gallery in Margate and is now on tour in the county.Entrace is free (very money saving ) then we will probably have a wander around the museum in Rochester. Its only about 6 miles from where I live so I'm sure we will find quite a bit to do there.
I have been experimanting with uploading stuff and hopefully it will work as I have uploaded my recipes to a Box on the net, read post 153 on ' What else to save the Pennies' on here :):)
I'm hoping it all works as it will help to clear my documents on my coputer which is getting rather full:D
Right I'm off for a shower and some breakfast as I have to be at Dds by 7.45 as I take over from her when she goes to work.Roll on the holidays, only 10 more days to go
Cheers chums

Morning JackieO & all who cross & follow.
    Hugs to Molly & PP.
BB hope you are feeling better today & that everything sorts itself out.
Wet here today & I'm off to work soon, I probably can't do anything as I gather my room has been trashed by the builders, but as long as I go in & show my face I have fulfilled my contractual obligations.
When I get home I shall do some more work on my sewing/craft room. I need to get the double bed out, into the front garden & phone the council to collect it. I'm looking into buying some of the vacuum storage bags & need to find out where they are cheapest.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Halight BC Museum is fab, gonna take my two when I get my butt into gear :o

Drizzly here, no sun, not even blue sky. However on the plus side I do think I have my first courgette coming. Only taken several months  normally by now I am sick of the things :rotfl:

Feeling fed up today, H is fed up this whole redundancy thing rolls on.....they asked him to extend his end date which he did, he's going after another job at company but really these people couldn't find snow in ruddy winter  it's a total farce. A part of me wants to up sticks and run to another end of the country........

No idea what's for tea :o
Have however used my SC for second time in as many days, cooking the mince and veg part to my cottage pie. Need to get back into using it more.

Nowt else happening apart from housework and peace negotiations between bickering kids

    Hugs and spoons xxxx

Molly41 Happy birthday to you  have a wonderful day xx

    Morning all,

Bit grey here atm, hope it brightens up later, just put a wash on, which I will ask dd to hang out for me, I am off to work.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Happy Birthday Molly41 - Have a fab day!

    Morning All
Another late night at work, I hope things calm down by next week when I go back to my day job too! At least the time passes but by the time I switch off enough to sleep it's gone midnight. Still, 2 nights off so i should catch up.

WM on, it looks like another good day on the horizon, going to get my roots fixed at 9 and the builder has just phoned to say that the new chimney guys can come today to try to put a liner in. I do hope this is fixed soon as the whole fire thing is dragging on now.

Not sure what South African visitors are up to today, they were in late last night but DD went to pick them up from the station.

Have a good day everyone, Take care. XX

    Morning all

Big yellow ball just peering through clouds, so may be nice today. Forecast was good for yesterday so sis and I took the kids to local park, along with bikes and picnic, but heavens opened just as we got there! Had picnic in park cafe (as did all other park visitors! :rotfl:), bit of a washout, so sun better stay today.

Going to a children's event at the local community farm this morning, maybe park again this aft if the rain holds off, then I'm going for a meal with a couple of friends (one up from down south and we don't see her often), so freezer tea for the others to balance the books! :D

Will catch up with yesterday's thread to see what I missed - happy birthday molly, have a good day!

De-Lurking to say a quick good morning
....... I'm looking into buying some of the vacuum storage bags & need to find out where they are cheapest....

Hester, Poundland has a variety of sizes of bags: I recently bought a pack of 2, each held several sweaters/cardis and a pack with a single large one that would hold quite a lot of bedding. They seemed sturdy enough and the fastening made sense iyswim.

Scuttling out again, waving to all. :o
