Good end result. Let us know what happens after the full audit. Most likely they will go through the books and work logs with a fine toothcomb and heads will roll.
The best way around this sort of thing happening in the future would be for the company to install some kind of clocking-on terminal where the staff swipe-in/out with a card. Totally tamper-proof if linked direct to head office pay dept.Never Knowingly Understood.

Emailed the area manager as stated, and she has dealt with this very professionally. The manager admitted creative accounting and my daughter will be repaid all the hours which were deducted.
It appears this sort of practice was allowed where the manager used to work, but has been told in no uncertain terms it will not be tolerated at this restaurant chain.
The manager has been very apologetic to my daughter and is lucky she was not sacked, it is likely that the restaurant will undergo a complete audit!
So, a lesson to be learned, follow the grieviance procedure, be factual rather than emotive and a decent employer will come to the correct conclusion.
Well done for her speaking up and not letting something like this go.
The manager should have lost his job in my opinion. It is theft.0 -

Seems a simple case to me of illegal deductions from wages. If she collects the evidence and then presents it and nothing happens she can take it to an ET. If the manager is pocketing the difference then the police may be interested. Either way the manager's manager ought to be keen to get to the root cause of it since an ET will be expensive for a small firm and they have little defence if they have been fiddling the timesheets.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
