I think I must be the only one not seeing a problem here... Your daughter was told she'd be paid a certain amount per hour, she accepted this, was happy with that and she is being paid this amount per hour, what does it matter how the business handle this on the admin side?Started 30/08/2011Biggest Wins: GHD's, 5* Trip to London, VIP Trip to Isle of MTV Festival in Malta.
Thanks so much to all who post0 -

Um... tax, NI, holiday entitlements, ssp, additional benefits eg tax credits, there are all sorts of things it could affect not to mention it's simply no way to run a business and totally unnecessary! :eek:A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

So why tamper ? Just produce the correct wageslip
=> X (correct) hours @ £6.50 ph
It's a lot more hassle doing what the manager is doing so why is he doing it ?0 -

they probably don't have a £6.50hr grade , if that is the case the rest is probably what people suspect(a fiddle).
Are boss and head chef mates?0 -

Because what they're doing is tantamount to fraud!! I'd hate to see what their tax/VAT records are like :eek:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

The boss doesn't set the wage, he only manages the place, so what he says her pay rate is has nothing to do with what the figure should be, if it was he pizza place then yes but it's not he just works there too.
Paying someone £7.50ph but only giving then £6.50ph is I would think illegal, as they are saying one thing on paper but another to her face..0 -
your daughter has gone through her manager and got no where, she needs to go straight to HR, its a company restaurant, and they would not want that information being made public,
Many yrs there was a big saga when a fast food restaurant was sending staff home early, deducting their wages, (this was before NMW), but your daughter needs to keep every record.
Hope you get it sorted xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

another big story was making them sit up stairs clocked off until the place got busy:eek:0 -
RESULT
Emailed the area manager as stated, and she has dealt with this very professionally. The manager admitted creative accounting and my daughter will be repaid all the hours which were deducted.
It appears this sort of practice was allowed where the manager used to work, but has been told in no uncertain terms it will not be tolerated at this restaurant chain.
The manager has been very apologetic to my daughter and is lucky she was not sacked, it is likely that the restaurant will undergo a complete audit!
So, a lesson to be learned, follow the grieviance procedure, be factual rather than emotive and a decent employer will come to the correct conclusion.0
