EDF fixed price 2014 - move or not

Hi

I signed up for the EDF 'fixed price 2014' for electricity only about a year ago. I use about £500 worth a year and live in the south west.

Should I stay or should I go now?:-) there may be an exit fee of £15 but a very quick glance at Uswitch indicate I can save over £50 a year. Not sure what is happening with energy prices so informed advice appreciated.

EDF 2014 is the 3rd cheapest tariff for me. The security of fixing until April 2014 (ie 2 winters) is too great a pull. I could save about £1 a month with Scottish Power who are the cheapest for me. But security is key.

Theres no 'may' about it, there will be an exit fee.

Have you actually checked the amount of £15.

I'm with EDF till 2014, its the security for me every time.

You could change then they could double the tarrif. You have no security.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Plus the prices with EDF are pretty good.
For me (Wiltshire), I'm with N Power and the Go Fix 6 deal I was on has come to an end. They've offered me Go Save S at 7.35 daily charge, 14.43 per kwh and £40 dd discount a year. This is a variable rate.

Compared to EDF which is fixed until April 2014. Prices of 14.70 daily charge (double that of N Power) but 11.802 per kwh. DD discount of 6% a year.

Swings and roundabouts. Nobody knows about energy prices but imo, the only way is up.

Was also on Go Fix 6 and was also offered Go Save S but going through N Powers own comparison and other sites, n Powers Electricity Online November 2013 was by far the cheapest for me. So have taken that. Worth a look, decide on fixed deals or price?? Gamble but can always cancel pay and move.

Cheapest for me is Scottish Power Fixed November 2013, then Npower Online November 2013 (not fixed though) and then OVO Energy which is fixed for 12 months, then EDF Blue fixed until April 2014.

So EDF not the cheapest but the thing that grabs me is that it is fixing prices for 2 winters.

    It's all a gamble really isn't it.

There's only a couple of pounds difference between fixing til November 2013 and April 2014 so I'd rather pay more for that extra security. Each to their own though.

£70 for dual fuel, think £40 (or maybe £30) for single fuel.

If you go through energyhelpline, you get £15 for a switch to whatever company.

Ah I see. That is a tricky one then. Depends if you want security or happy to go with a standard rate. Bit like a mortgage although not as scary!
