They may well accept a different billing and delivery address under some circumstances; I have 4 different delivery names and 3 addresses now registered for Amazon.

But phones are high value, and easily sold on and they are within their rights to refuse a sale; moreover you haven't been TOLD the reason the sale was refused, the person who spoke to you has apparently made some educated guesses as to the reason.

I used to work for them - the system wouldn't tell you why.

    They made an educated guess.

anyway, he did basically say most technology on eBay is stolen or used to find crime, so I have no sympathy for narrow-minded indiduals who think like that.

eBay is a safe and secure place to shop as long as you know what to spot in a dodgy listing.

Hmm matty, there is a lot of dodgy dealing goes on on ebay. I think the OP is right to be wary, I would be too. Only bought one phone from there that failed to arrive. Was no problem for me, but made me more reluctant to buy a phone from there again. Think paypal must have refunded because the guy was no longer a registered user after the transaction went through.

But the OP has other problems that MAY make them wary of taking this route. Sorry OP it might be true, I don't know if your condition affects you in this way or not, to make you more wary of buying things online or from ebay etc.

I'm not saying all phone shops on ebay are like that one, it looked very professional, but was gone after they had my £50.

£12.50 is more than enough for a phone.

So what you're saying is eBay is safe but it has dodgy listings.

So it's safe, except when it isn't.
  • Just as a guess, not sure if this is a viable option or not.

Can the OP not request an answer under the DPA?

Legally, if asked a company has to provide the information it holds on that person. So I assume, somewhere they will hold information on why he has been banned/cancelled.

If the information isn't within the pack they send, I would argue that A. They haven't complied and sent all the information about you or
    B. There isn't any information relating to this (doubt it) so how can they ban you cancel you phone

Hopefully that makes sense. And if it does contain a reason, at least you will be satisfied with an answer.

Not sure if it's a possible option.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

They can also charge a fee of up to £10...probably not worth it

A few years ago, my account was defrauded, as someone who had moved into a rented flat after me, had used my new bank card* to buy a phone on phones4u.com. So to me it does make sense they might do this.

(*My fault, had a bereavement, at the time I moved out, and didnt realise i hadnt changed my correspondence address back)

I got refused years ago from boots electrical I think it was, as they had a spate of credit card theft in the area. Or so they told me.

From what I can work out, after being told never ever to ring again, he must have given them a mouthful on the phone. So why should someone who is working for a living have to put up with rubbish like that?
