Is it possible to keep number moving Orange to Orange?

Hi All,
Just coming to the end of my contract with Orange and very disappointed with the offer the retentions department have offered me as I would like the Samsung Slll and the cheapest they will do is £36/mth but I can start a new contract with orange with more included for £28.50 however this will mean me getting a new phone number.
I have been told that it is not possible to keep my number but I reckon there must be a way around it! Just wondered if anyone would be able to help please?
Thanks very much

Normally you port to a non-Orange PAYG sim and then start again with Orange, bringing the number back in.

If you are getting a discount on the change, then no. If not, a migration is certainly possible. The way round is via PAYG, then a standard port back in with a PAC.0

Incorrect advice. The answer is yes - regardless of any discount. At least that's how it is in practice. The theory can differ. If you are getting a discount on the change, then no.
Firstly, switching from Orange contract to Orange PAYG has nothing to do with 'porting'.You can port to an Orange PAYG sim, then back again.
Secondly, I have serious doubts that you can transfer a number from Orange PAYG to Orange contract (I used to believe that this was possible, but think I was wrong).0 -
I suggest the following.
1) Get your current phone unlocked
2) Activate a PAYG sim on another network that works where you live
3) Ask for your PAC and use it a couple of days before it expires to move your number to your PAYG SIM (if you don't do that you will loose the remaining month of your contract)
4) Use your PAYG sim in your old phone
5) Start the new contract and transfer the number from your PAYG SIM.
The potential problem with this is that some networks are fussy how long a number is with their network before porting out.0 -
My partner did this recently - transferring from one Orange contract to another Orange contract without officially upgrading.
They sent her an Orange PAYG SIM, which was never actually used but they just needed the SIM number to process the change. Essentially the number went directly from her old contract SIM to her new contract SIM - but the PAYG SIM was still necessary. So she had to wait a few days for them to post the PAYG SIM, but once she'd received that the process didn't take very long.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
I've always kept my number each time I do a new contract and upgrade with orange. I've never paid for an upgrade. The last one they wanted me to pay for, as it wasn't one of the free upgrades. I said no, I'd go to vodafone who did offer it free if I took my contract with them and then Orange gave it me. Never, ever had to change my number, it's been the same for the last 5 years.0

It is possible and easy apparently.
My boy works for Orange and does this regularly for customers.0
