I need a new mobile :(

I have a contract with 3 and I got a Blackberry Curve, I couldn't use it so I got rid of it and put my Sim Card in hubbies old iphone 3?, can't use that either......the problem seems to be the touch screen, my fingers are slightly bent with Arthritis, so I got one of those 'pen' things. Still can't get used to the iphone.

I have an old Nokia classic phone I use on PAYG with Tesco mobile, so I tend to use this all the time and the contract therefore isn't being used.

So what I want is a no frills phone that I can put my 3 sim card in but I would like it to have facebook, other than that I just use text and phonecalls so don't need all the apps. The only two I've seen are Nokia C2-01 or C2-05.......not recommended by my local 3 store.

So where do I start? ......any help would be much appreciated.

buscape, what is the difference between the C5-00 and the ones currently available at the 3 store (the two I mentioned above)?

    Thanks for your reply

I don't see much difference except GPS and Ovi Maps.

Why would '3' not recommend some phones that they sell?

Tick '3g' and 'Physical Keyboard' in Features tab. Unfortunately, it doesn't filter out some touchscreen phones.
  • Several Mobile Phones are available in market. You can select one of them like Lava Mobile,Samsung ,Nokia, Motorola, Blackberry etc.

The new Nokia Asha range seem perfect. I would just avoid the handsets that have both touch screen and keypad. Even basic phones integrate Facebook nowadays.

I also agree with Grumbler though I get sick of people working for phone companies trying to talk people out of buying particular handsets they sell. I could understand somebody giving me alternative suggestions IF they've questioned my every need out of a phone but its usually just because they don't like the phone.

In fairness to the lad in the phone shop, he was trying to encourage me to stick with the iphone.......but I just don't like it and I don't need all the functions it has.

Earthworm, I looked at the Asha 300 last night but I think it has a touch screen and keypad? The Nokia C5 looks ok but not very widely available.........which makes me question why?
Thanks for everybodys input so far, getting the wrong phone can be a very expensive mistake (as I've already found out) :(

The only reason it isn't widely available is network choice. Well over 60 percent of phone purchases now are smartphones and the number is rising every month. I believe Carphone Warehouse sell the device though... According to Nokias website
  • There are a number of Nokias similar to the C5-00 in the market, addressing the requirement for well made "conventional looking" phones.

I know someone who isn't very technical who has one of these Nokias (or something similar) and after some initial problems (unlocking uses the touch screen which wasn't obvious) he is doing fine with it.

If you have tried a Blackberry and an iPhone and not got on with either then a new Nokia seems the way to go.
