I'm trying to be positive about this. Is it not likely that this is a genuine offer by a new business wanting to get a bit of advertising on here? Once we all start getting our hampers (I hope!) we'll be posting on here saying how great they are.........
I really hope that is the case anyway.

Can anyone from the local area confirm whether this shop actually exists?

someone earlier in the thread said the shop was right down the road from her

have to say there seems to a bit of 'the sky is falling' going on here, whilst i realise in this day and age you can't always know if ANY business will stay up and running for the next 6 months, if it concerned anyone that much the prudent thing would be to have declined the offer

wishing the new venture the very best, and eagerly awaiting my hampers which i'm sure will be a lovely treat for us come christmas time :T
  • I spoke to Neil from Norfolk hampers before placing my order - I had a couple of queries. The amount of people responding to the offer had taken the company by surprise, and to be fair, there probably wouldn't have been as many orders if it hadn't appeared on MSE.

Neil told me that orders were taking longer than usual to dispatch, as demand had been so great. The backlog means that orders such as mine (ordered Wednesday) won't be dispatched until the end of next week.

I haven't used the company before, and have no connection with them. I am from a different area of the country, and am a long time user of MSE, so there is no underlying reason for me saying this, but personally, I am willing to give this company a chance. I have chosen to order, and obviously hope that my order is fulfilled. I can understand that a small company might struggle with a large and unexpected number of orders, but I'm willing to give them a little time. After all, I only ordered two days ago.

Does anyone know if you paid by either credit card or debit card how long you can wait to apply for a charge back?
  • If you pay for goods over £100 by credit card, I believe that there is protection if goods are not delivered. This isn't applicable to debit cards though.

The deal was below £100, so it isn't applicable here either. i think you also have to give the supplier a chance to fulfill thier side of the contract - something that some posters don't seem to want to do.
  • It is me that lives close to the shop! I've driven past it before and been intrigued but never been in. I emailed them about the deal and I'm able to giving and pick my first hampers up Tuesday so I am more than happy to post pics when I get them if people would like.

I've no affinity with the company. But I can vouch that the shop exists.

For those still worrying about this deal, I heard from Neil today which has reassured me that this is genuine. He said that the company has been going for 8 years, but the web business is relatively new - so it makes sense that they'd offer a deal like this to get some publicity. They seem to have a lot of happy customers on Twitter.
With so many hampers each, I guess we'll be spreading these far and wide, to relatives and work places, so it should get them plenty of advertising.
XSusiex, would love to see what your hampers are like when you've picked them up!
Also, I have absolutely no affinity with the company, just like to see a small local business having new ideas for expansion and doing well.......
  • Off to pick my picnic hampers up in the next hour. Might even use onet if it doesn't rain! Will report back with a picture :)
  • I have my hampers!

They are 40cm by 30cm and 20cm deep (Hubby just measured them). One has a cool bag built in. They've got 2 plates, cutlery and a bottle opener. They are a fab size and really cute and good quality. The shop owner was a nice guy too :D
