Removing headboard

Hi, moved into a new flat and the bed has a headboard which really doesn't fit under the slanted ceiling. Unfortunately it's also the legs of the bed.. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get te bed to stay up if it was removed?? Cant do anything to the headboard itself as its the landlords.

Thank you

Pull it away from the wall, see how the current leg/headboard combination is attached to the bed, then make an alternative set of legs only out of appropriately sized wood and attach them to the bed in the same way.

The problem you will have is that without a headboard, you will mark the wall/sloping ceiling behind the bed when sitting up in bed with your head/hair/pillow rubbing against the wall. You will also push the bed away from the wall when you lean backwards.

Could you not move it to a different position?

If its a wooden bed and you never wanted to use the headboard again you could simply cut off the headboard at the level of the frame. This would, assuming it was MDF or chipboard that couldn't be sanded leave an ugly edge so you could get a bit of timber the width of the bed to stain to match the frame and screw/glue this on top.

A bit of a faff and depending on your skills could look a pigs ear so see the above idea about bricks.

OP says it's the landlord's headboard so can't do anything permanent to it.

If bricks don't fit properly, try hardback books from the local charity shop.

Thanks, might have a go at the bricks! Does seem a bit precarious though.. Have to put it to the test :D don't think I'm quite skilled enough to be making new legs, bed would probably collapse as soon as I sat on it..
Basically every wall is slanted and its very small. Don't understand why the bed is double with a massive headboard!

Believe me, bricks do work ! ( been there got the T shirt !).

Just put a few double columns under the back of the frame to support it along that edge. Will work a treat ! If you get jiggy, will only push towards the wall anyway ( TMI embarassed now )

It is either that or a couple of axle stands !

Can you just turn the bed round? Headboard'd be at your feet end and you simply ignore it.
