Funnily enough, this is exactly how they are taught to speak at Ecclesiastical College ...... i just thought the Church may be like !!!!!! why is this dude sending me one pound?
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
sorry mate, i appreciate the help, didn't mean to annoy you.

Exactly. They will be surprised, it will get their attention, and your complaint about their ghastly parking pals will have more impact.Je suis Charlie.0 -
What have you decided to do in the end? I'm in same position and have been getting same advice as you, but still feel slightly uneasy, cos if it goes wrong for anyone it'll be me! Most annoying thing about Newquay is I'm local and have now been put off supporting the place at all!!0

Hi gwindra
What do you mean by being "put off supporting the place?" Are you talking about supporting the church (or Newquay in general)? From your thread it seems you parked in a retail car park?
I understand that you're worried about this but Coupon-mad has already made a detailed reply to your post (click the link below), it contains all you need to know and frankly it's not worth stressing yourself out for the sake of ~£1.

Parking in general is a scam, but pay the church the £1 (full and final, and all other disclaimers) and be done with it.0

just to let those who were curious or helped out, that im sending a letter and a pound today and hopefully thats the end of it.
the debt collectors however keep telephoning me, how they got my number i dont know :mad:0 -
Don't think so - I imagine they'll be grateful and appreciative that you bothered to come back for the sake of £1. If you speak to someone I'd definitely mention the nasty tactics of the parking company and the resulting impression you had of the church. May make them think...

Assuming the church will take the moral high ground to. My experiences suggest they don't always.

Well done OP. Morally you have done the right thing and fulfilled your obligation. You can now rest easy that you owe nobody any money at all for anything.
As for the debt collectors? Technically this is harassment. Tell them to stop calling you or you will issue legal proceedings against them."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -
“The alleged so-called debt is denied. You now need to refer this matter back to your client. Any further communication on this matter will be regarded as harassment under terms of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.”The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.
