Ah... Does a bank manager count as an officer or a regulated financial services business? Will they do that since its for an aplication for one of their competitors?0
-
A bank may do it but as its for a competitor they may not.
The one that everyone will have access to is a notary who will do it for you. From memory it is something like £8 that they charge simply for saying a photocopy is a true and accurate copy of the original
To answer the other question, an actuary is someone who makes an accountant's life look exciting. They calculate the financial impact of risk/ uncertainty - they typically work for insurers or banks etc but they exist in other fields too0 -
Useful info in this thread.
I've applied 3 times in my life and have always been deferred and then rejected despite the good (but very young) credit history.
Now that I've been in the country for more than 4 years, I'm a home owner and my salary has doubled since my first application I want to apply again and I'm relatively confident that I'd be accepted but I'm holding off because I've started a new job only a month ago and I know they ask about length of employment in the application. :-/0 -

I only applied yesterday and I don't seem to remember the application asking for length of employment. It asked how long you had been at your current address and how long you've been with your bank but not your employer.0 -

Oh, interesting! That'd definitely be in my favour then! I'm very tempted to apply now then. I just don't want to be rejected again. I have already £11k of open credit but I never spend more than £1.7k a month on my current credit cards.0 -
Just applied. Deferred. I got very excited as it showed me the assigned APR (23%), which it never showed me in the previous application, and asked me to sign the credit agreement, but then I got the usual screen about the 10 days wait. I have a bad feeling, despite Noddle thinking that I have a probability of 8/10.0

I'd wait until tomorrow afternoon and then give them a ring on the number provided. Say that your application was referred and ask if there is anything else they need in order to process it. That's what I did and they asked for a copy of my passport and a utility bill showing my address. Can't be certain but I assume that if the ask for this and you provide it then surely the application will be accepted? What's going to be on your passport or a utility bill that would cause them to reject it?0

I'll give them a call tomorrow, but I've done this in all previous occasions and it didn't make a difference unfortunately.0 -

For future reference, AmEx don't like you to have a high level of available credit, even though they can see it is not being used. If you do get declined, next time you try I would close some of the dormant card first.
I have had three AmEx cards (although only two at one time), but with each new one the limit on the other was lowered.0 -

I have reduced my credit limit from 11k to 7k on the Halifax Clarity on which I normally spend just over £300 to get the reward, and the Capital One (limit of £4k) that I use for cashback for an average monthly spent of 1.4k and that I'd close if I got an Amex.0
