HELP! Trying to reduce my monthly payment

I have been with 02 for a number of years and in January I took out another 18 month contract. I am now going to New Zealand at the end of this month until next August. O2 say they can't do anything to help me reduce my monthly payments until October. Is this correct? I know I won't be able to get out of my contract unless I buy myself out but I really want to reduce the monthly payments as I won't be able to afford what I am paying each month! Can O2 do anything to help?!

Trying to buy them out is usually more expensive than paying the monthly installments, so not an option.

I'm afraid they've got you and you just have to keep paying each month until the end of the contract.

In this day and age, I am amazed that people take out mobile phone contracts. There are much cheaper PAYG options - with a cheap PAYG supplier you save ££ each month, there is no risk of big bills (eg the phone is stolen) and if your plans change you can get out immediately.

Never go back to a contract with anyone.
