Orange hidden charges - SMS delivery charge!!!
It is too late for me to claim from Orange according to the operator that I spoke to at 11.30am today on the number 150. I have been with orange for over 5 years (sad I know). I had two phones but did not renew my other phone (which is my sons).
I looked at my last bill and found I had been charged after each text message 'SMS DELIVERY CHARGE 0.009p'.
I phoned orange up and was given a sell of well I will show you how to switch it off. But I have been charged for this. They would not back down, would not give me a refund nothing.
This is a DEFAULT SETTING and you have to switch it off yourself!!!
Moral of the story is, it is to late for me as my contract runs out March 2013 next year. All orange customers check your bills please do not let this happen to you.
I am not being spiteful as I understand I should have checked my bills but on no account will I be renewing my contract with ORANGE or recommending them to my friends.

0.009p?! I.e. 9p for 1000 messages?0

It's not a default setting, it depends on your phone, but thanks for alerting people. I did have this issue too but after the first month checking my bill I just turned it off. It is annoying though!0.009p?! I.e. 9p for 1000 messages?
It's c.1p per message, rounded up. so 1000 messages would be £90 -
This is a joke right??0

I remember getting a shock when I received my first bill after Orange decided to start charging for delivery reports. It was a few years ago now though! I'd always used delivery reports and not been charged, then one day they were suddenly charged at ~1p each. I rang them up to complain as they'd given no prior warning of these charges; they said they were rolling them out gradually to customers and some people had ben charged for reports for ages. They didn't give me any kind of refund.
I switched the delivery reports off on my handset, and have been sure to do the same every time I upgrade ever since.
I agree that they should make it clearer to customers that delivery reports are chargeable.0 -
i just turned mine off sorry op but its not oranges fault and they dont owe u a refundWhat goes around-comes around0

Delivery reports have been charged at 1p each on animal plans since they started in April 2006.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

I think it's how Orange show it on their website i.e. show everything in pounds.
I got charged for this as well, in fact, it didn't even state so clearly that it was a charge for a delivery report. I had to experiment with turning various things off to see if I could stop the charge!
It is a bit underhand in my view as there was nothing in any of the information that I saw to suggest there was a charge for this service. No doubt it's in the small print somewhere, however I wasn't provided with a copy of this, or directed to anywhere I could get it. Probably wouldn't have read it anyway, mind! :rotfl:Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
My sister had the same problem with Orange with her Sony Ericsson X10 mini. They said at the time it was an issue with Sony Ericsson Xperia phones but it was quickly sorted out. Always important to check your bills to spot it early.0
